Crunchy Muesli
Based on a favourite (packet) muesli but a lot cheaper
Ingredients
2 litres |
Porridge oats |
1 -2 dl |
Dessiccated coconut |
1 dl |
Granulated sugar |
0.5 dl |
Brown sugar |
1.5 dl |
Pale syrup |
1 tbsp |
Honey |
0.5 dl |
Vegetable oil |
0.5 dl |
Water |
2 dl |
Raisins |
Procedure
Mix the oats and coconut in a large baking tin. Mix the sugars, syrup,
honey, oil and water in a saucepan and heat until the sugar has dissolved
(or use a microwave oven). Pour over the oats and stir around. Roast in
the oven at 175 o C for about 20 minutes, stirring the mixture once or
twice so that all of it gets roasted. Once most of the oats start looking
golden brown then the muesli is ready. Leave to cool, then stir in the
raisins and store in an airtight box.
Notes
This recipe was originally more nutritious with extra bran, and a mixture
of grains. But my husband complained so I have settled on this recipe.
