Favourite Oaty Bread

- Another easy recipe that we eat almost every day

Ingredients

(30 pieces)
50 g Yeast
5 dl Milk
2 dl Water
0.5 dl Cooking oil
2 teaspoons Salt
30 ml Honey or syrup
4 dl Oats
About 1 l Plain flour

Procedure

Bring the milk to the boil and pour it over the oats, then leave to stand for 10 minutes. Crumble the yeast in a cup with a little sugar and leave to stand, stirring occasionally - it should become runny. Add the water and oil to the warm milk and wait till the mixture has cooled down to finger temperature. Stir in the yeast, salt and honey. Add flour to the mixture until it has stopped being sticky and knead for 5 minutes, adding more flour if the mixture gets too sticky. You will get the best results if the mixture is very slightly sticky after you have kneaded it. Leave under a tea towel to rise for 45 minutes and go and do something else. Squidge the dough into a big greased tin such as a roasting dish (about 30 x 40 cm). Marrk into thirty squares using a floured knife. Cover and leave to rise for at least 30 minutes. Cook in the oven at 225 o C for about 20 minutes, and leave to cool on a wire rack under a cloth, then just break into squares.
