this isn't a real clear pic of us, but this is us in the Columbus airport before we left on our first plane on July 26th, at like seven or eight in the morning....anyway from left to right starting on the bottom is Michelle, Matt, Mike, Kristen, and then in the back, James, Miranda, Lauren, Becky, Alicia, and then me.
These are the clouds from the plane window.
More clouds!!!
And more clouds!!
A view of a city from the plane!
Now, after staying in Texas at the Ed and Rae-Ann's house Saturday, we got up on Sunday morning and crossed the border into Mexico. We had to stop first to get our passports and all that stuff worked out but then Ed drove to Reynosa, Mexico to a C.U church that was built there and we attended a service. This is the outside of that church.
This is the inside of the Reynosa church...sorry it's a little dark, but it has three concrete walls and a roof, and plastic chairs to sit on, and that's about it. It doesn't have a door or anything, it's just there. But the people in the church are amazing. They are really on fire for God!
This is what their houses looked like. They were all over the place. Five or more people, a whole family, live in each of these houses which were no bigger then my room. That's shocking, but they didn't know that they had it bad because they had never had it good like we do. Amazing people. And I mean these houses were built with cardboard, small pieces of wood, whatever they found that they deemed suitable to build with.
Here is what the roads in Mexico look like, some are paved, but a lot are dirt roads, and they are very, very bumpy to ride on!
This is a shot of the girls(well not me b/c I'm taking the pic)at a restaurant we stopped at in Ciudad Victoria on the way to Ciudad Valles. This is a hotel restaurant in Mexico. It was very cute. Very serene and peaceful.
Here's another group shot of us at the hotel in C.D Victoria where we stopped to eat. This is the outside obviously though. Just in case you are wondering, when we were in Mexico, we had to wear dresses 24-7. Which made it very hot, but it didn't really matter to us. We would have been hot anyway in 110 degree weather every single day!
Here is a shot of us at the Tropic of Cancer. This orange ball is right on the line of Tropic of Cancer. This was just on the way to our destination so Ed and Rae-Ann stopped for us.
Okay this is one of the rooms where four of us girls stayed. It is like the biggest room in the whole hotel ( a hotel of which cost $25 a week for one person, and this was a VERY nice hotel). Kristen and Michelle shared a bed, but me and Lauren had our owns. Mine is the one next to the window.
This is the other half of our room. We had some major closet space, and a huge table(of which by the way, we used like one closet and there were four). The rooms were air conditioned and if you are wondering, we had gallons of water out in the hallway to get our water from because we weren't allowed to drink the water from the sink.
