It has taken me forever to find the graphics I wanted to do this page.  I still don't have exactly what I want, but it will have to do for now.  These are just recipe pages after all.  They don't need to be anything fancy.  But I like to make them as interesting as possible.  After all I am the one who looks at these pages most.

I hope that you enjoy this recipe for Roast Beef and Cabbage.  It is one of my favorites.  If you like the taste of horseradish, then this dish is for you.  It is done in the crock pot, and is a complete meal, with all the veggies in it.  Add a nice fruit salad and some fresh homeade bread and you have a wonderful meal.  Well, enough with the little chit chat, on with the show.  Enjoy this months installment of my main dish page.

Hearty Roast Beef Dinner

Place carrots, onion and celery in a slow cooker, or crock pot.  Place the roast on top; sprinkle with 1/2 tsp. salt and pepper.  Add soup mix, water, vinegar and bay leaf.  Cover and cook on low for 7-9 hours or until beef is tender.  Remove beef and keep warm; discard bay leaf.  Add cabbage.  Cover and cook on high for 30-40 minutes or until cabbage is tender.  Meanwhile, melt butter in a small saucepan; stir in flour and onion.  Add 1-1/2 cups cooking liquid from the slow cooker.  Stir in horseradish and remaining salt; bring to a boil.  Cook and stir over low heat until thich and smooth, about 2 minutes.  Serve with roast and veggies.
