The Birthday Party of JetCjr7
By Jewels
**
Jewels finished stapling the last of the decorations to the wall and leaned
back, satisfied. *Only took me three hours.* She thought to herself. Of
course, when you took into account the fact that she'd been decorating the
lift, the accomplishment did seem to pale a little.
Hammering buttons with unnecessary force, she got the lift to persuade her
to take her down to the foyer, the lift complaining the whole time.
"I mean, I don't ask much, but I'm a lift, y'know, I have feelings. Why you
feel it necessary to brutalise me in such a way is completely beyond my
comprehension..." Jewels left the lift babbling to itself and stepped out,
freezing in her path at the sight of the whole of the foyer decked out in
bright banners and streamers, looking like it had taken hours.
"Hey, Jewels!" called out one of the Pondies from across the foyer. "Only
took us half an hour. You done in the lift?"
Jewels mumbled something incoherent about 'just about' and went to lock the
doors to the sub-sub-basement. It wouldn't do to have the party spoiled by
some of the creatures she was sure lurked down there.
"So remind me," said Twynnie, arranging the plates on the buffet table that
stretched through the lobby and into the coffee shrine so they reflected
the light better. "What are we celebrating again?"
Yarb sighed. "JetCjr7's official birthday. It's rather hurt we forgot it."
Twynnie blinked in surprise. "We did?"
"Yeah, it was last friday. Can you believe it? The list's a whole year
old."
"Next thing you'll be saying we have to throw the House a party on its
birthday."
"I'd better!" camed the extremely peeved voice of the House.
Shorty, who had been making paper birds from the napkins jumped out. "Since
when can the House talk?"
"Dunno, Jewels..." Puck caught the arm of a rather pallid looking Pondie
who'd just had a nasty encounter with something green and tentacled in the
sub-sub-basement. "Did you design the House to be able to speak?"
Jewels looked around vaguely before her mind settled on the issue. "Uh...
no... it just kinda happened." She raised the House-keys off her belt.
"I've gotta go lock myself in the padded room for an hour or so, ok?" With
that, she wandered off.
"So, apart from the pond," Jenna said. "Who's been invited?"
"Well," Yarb, the only one that had remembered the birthday and hence, the
official party organiser, pulled out a clipboard and looked at the guest
list. "We have the entire cast of Voyager, obviously, then we have the
characters themselves..."
"The actors /and/ the characters?" asked Gillian as she set out the
polystyrene cups. "Won't that be confusing?"
"Probably. Then we have Brannon Braga, for those of us that like him..."
"Oh goodie," Shorty rubbed her hands together.
"Shorty! No beating up guests!" Yarb told her.
Shorty's response was a disappointed sigh.
"The Stargate SG-1 characters, especially for Jewels and Laura."
Laura grinned, so did Jewels, but as she was busy in the padded room, no
one could see that.
"What about the lurkers? Think they'll come?" asked Shea.
"Even if they do, they'll just lurk in the shadows. Oh, and we also have
Angel and Xander turning up."
"Angel?" Shorty echoed happily.
"Urgh!" That comment came from Laura, and Shorty tried to remember to
breath, and the rule that she was not allowed to dismember other Pondies
during the Party.
"Moving on," said Yarb quickly, flipping pages on her clipboard.
"Pity Caffey couldn't be here..." commented Katie.
"Yeah," echoed Andrea.
They were distracted by a clattering noise as Guinan, supplying the drinks
(non-alcoholic, this /is/ a jr group after all), planted the bottles on one
of the tables. "I don't want to catch any of you sneaking out for alcohol."
she said, glaring at them, who just smiled innocently.
"Us?" Celestia asked.
"Never." Karin finished.
Guinan didn't look particularly convinced, but went to get more drinks
anyway.
"I think that's everything nearly finished." said Nemesis, who had resorted
to hammering one of the paperchains on the wall at one point after the blue
tack stubbornly refused to co-operate.
"Now we just need the guests." Tash said, sneaking some of the finger
foods.
"Yeah, where are they anyway?" asked Sam, who had been busy finishing
fanfic in her own room.
"Gridlock in sector 83." said ej, "Heard it on the radio. Something about
that new shopping centre they've put up recently. Shuttle traffic's just
jammed."
"Oh, so we're going to have to wait a while?" Melissa asked. She had been
looking forward to a good party starting /soon/.
"Yep," Jewels still looked pale from her encounter with the creatures in
the basement, but tried to look slightly cheerful. "Anyone know where I put
the sedatives?"
Dani indicated the kitchen and Jewels went to dose herself into a stupor so
she could forget the one with red eyes and the... things... crawling around
in its mouth.
"So what do we do till they arrive?" came the petulant voice of the House.
Everyone jumped. This was just too freaky.
"What? The lift's allowed to talk, but I'm not? Let me tell you something,
I'm feeling sorely underused, I mean, the Housewarming RR never even got
finished, and now I'm being treated like a third rate, one-dimensional
character who doesn't even deserve the time of day and... wait... where are
you going? Please come back... I'm lonely... I need a hug... *sniffle*"
