John O. Grover
Born: 1866 April 2nd
1871 Father moved to Baron Engberson's estate and began work as chief gardener.
1873 John invited to study with the Baron's children in their home. Concurrently he is helping his father with the gardens, learning that trade.
1878 Father dies, Blaine assumes the roll of chief gardener in his father's stead. His studies are discontinued.
1886 Baron's youngest daughter, Elaine, now 16, gets a new tutor, a scientist. John learns a little on the side at night.
1887 John is invited to leave and study at a university by the tutor. He declines. He must support his widowed mother.
1888 April Elaine attempts to invent a personal conveyor, with the tutor's help. They fail. Despondent, Elaine runs away, looking for adventure. Tutor goes on to rescue her and is killed
1888 July-November Under the pleadings of the Baron, John works to complete the personal conveyor. He finally succeeds in November.
1888 November 5th John leaves in search of Elaine
1889 July John finds a lead with a Gentleman named Fineas S. Pringle III (Morgan's Character) and follows him to America where they join up with an Inventor of some fame in the Arizona Territory, Dr. Cyrus Grant.
1889 September John returns from the Moon and is given a lead on Elaine's whereabouts by Dr. Grant.
I think that Elaine may be dead- but not necessarily. John has days when he thinks she is and doesn't even care to look, and others when he expects to see her in every place in the solar system.
