Linda Eder (Wildhorn)!
This is Linda Eder.. The goddess of Broadway!
I first heard her on the Jekyll and Hyde CD that my friend shoved down my throat for a month.
I didn't really like her at first but her voice grew on me... And I thought "wow, she's pretty good!" What an understatement!
.. I finally developed my own opinion of her within a few months.. this is it: WOW!
I started to really love her voice, her style of singing, the little inflections in her voice.. every time I heard the CD I would smile..
but what really got me hooked was her solo CD "It's Time". I actually ordered it for my friend, but once I got it I wouldn't let go of it!
She is SO amazing and versatile. After that I just HAD to get "And So Much More"... which got me even more hooked!
After a considerably long period of time, I was sufficiently obsessed. I HAD to go to New York to see her in Jekyll and Hyde before she left!
So I bribed and whined and did everything I could to convince my dad to take me to New York for my birthday in August, and finally we made a rushed trip there on the 24th.
The second night we were there we went to Jekyll and Hyde.. and you can read more about that night on it's own little page.. but I was so excited that I almost cried when Linda came out for the opening ensemble number!
I was laughing through one of her serious songs because I was so happy to be seeing her..
All I can say is that she's the most powerful presence I've ever had the pleasure to behold. On stage and face to face.
She is simply amazing! It's hard to describe. After the show, we met her at the stage door, and I gave her a sketch that I'd drawn of her.. she was very gracious and kept saying "Thank you! That's so sweet!"
We also took a few pictures with her and got her autograph, and talked for a bit. She wished me luck on my quest for Broadway and then went on her way.
This woman gave me the motivation and the inspiration to start singing.. and I wish that she knew! Maybe next time I see her I will have the guts to tell her so.
She is so wonderful! After listening to her I decided to start taking voice lessons, and the trip to New York confirmed my suspicion that Broadway is to someday be my home. So.. if you see me on the stage in 10 years, it's all HER fault. :-)
She did her first televised concert earlier this year, and it aired on PBS all over the nation. She also recently announced that Baby Wildhorn will be born around the end of August! All her fans are very excited. :-)
Soon after that, she'll be starring in another of Frank Wildhorn's musicals, "Havana". Another thing I can't wait for!! :-)
So there you have it; Linda Eder, my inspiration. :-)
