Prologue: The Proposal
On New Thundera, the people resumed their daily lives. More Thunderians were returning home and rebuilt it to be the prosperous planet it once was. Although the most of the people were respectful and peaceful to each other, their were others who feared, were intimidated, did not trust, and hated each other.
Among those who were prejudice were the lions, tigers, and panthers. They were prejudice against the cheetahs and their special capabilities such as their sixth sense, telepathic, and telekinetic abilities. One person in particular was Luther, a lion elder that was a strong, tall lion, with long red/gray, straight hair. He had a red mustache and goatee. His eyes were serious, determined, with a glint of wickedness, as it appeared to be whenever the elder was upset.
Luther walked around in Claudus City, looking down at the cheetahs. He walked to a newsstand and picked up the morning paper and begin reading it. Lavarius, another elder, walked to him.
"Good morning, Luther."
Luther looked back at Lavarius. "Good morning, Lavarius," he said and paid the vendor. He put the newspaper under his arm and walked with Lavarius. He noticed his friend very quiet. "What's troubling you, Lavarius?"
"It's seems that Lord Lion-O is dating."
Luther raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really? What's the big deal about that?"
"He's dating a Thundercat...Cheetara...a cheetah."
Luther stopped walking for a moment. Lavarius stopped when he did. Luther shrugged his shoulders and resume walking. "It's no big deal."
"No big deal? Aren't you the one who preached to us about how the cheetahs aren't to be trusted?" Lavarius questioned.
"I am, but so what if our Lord of the Thundercats is dating a cheetah. He's only dating her."
"Yes, but sources say that they are serious. He might even propose to her."
"I really doubt that. The previous Lords of Thundera have dated someone other than their own kind. However, when they chose a wife, it was always a lioness. Lord Lion-O is just sowing his royal oats. He's not taking his relationship with Cheetara seriously."
*****
At Bengali and Pumyra's wedding, Lion-O and Cheetara were inseparable. Although they tried to hide their love for each because they didn't want to steal the spotlight from Bengali and Pumyra's wedding, the others knew. After the newlyweds returned from their honeymoon, Bengali and Pumyra went to Third Earth to spend some time alone.
Just days after their departure, Lion-O and Cheetara had a private picnic behind Cat's Lair, on the green grass in front of the clear, blue man-made lake. Most of the food had been eaten, and they were spending the rest of their time enjoying each other's company.
Cheetara leaned on Lion-O, and he wrapped his arms around her. She looked up at the sky. "It's been so wonderful today. I hope no one disturbs us."
"How could they? Tygra, Panthro, and Lynx-O know not to disturb us. WilyKit and WilyKat are on Third Earth, and Snarf and Snarfer wouldn't dare come out here."
Cheetara laughed. "I think you told everyone not to come out here."
Lion-O laughed and squeezed Cheetara tighter. "You know me too well."
She looked up at Lion-O and in a sultry voice she said, "I know that you want to kiss me right now.”
Lion-O bend down and kissed Cheetara. Starting off soft and gentle, it soon became hard and passionate. Cheetara fingers ran in Lion-O's hair as she was gently lowered on the picnic blanket. Cheetara felt his body gently lay on hers. Feeling they were going a little too far, Cheetara slowly pushed Lion-O back. Understanding Cheetara, Lion-O slowly got off her and laid beside her. They were both breathing heavily.
Cheetara smiled at him. "Getting to hot heavy," Cheetara commented. She turned on her side and looked into his eyes. "This is perfect."
"What is?"
"Everything. Just think, months ago, I didn't want to have a relationship with you. I avoided you. I was rude to you. I--"
Lion-O had his fingers on Cheetara's lips. "It's nothing. All that matters now is that we are together."
Cheetara placed her left hand on his face. "Yes, and we will always be together."
"I just thought of something that will make this day and the rest of our lives perfect from now on."
Cheetara smiled brightly. "What?"
Without taking his eyes off her, he took her hand off his face and held it in his. He pulled her up as he sat up. He reached back and pulled out a black velvet box and opened it, revealing a large heart shaped diamond ring. "Will you marry me?"
Cheetara felt she was about to faint. She had not expect a proposal, at least not this soon. She threw her arms around him. "Yes, of course I'll marry you!"
Cheetara pulled back, and Lion-O put the ring on her left hand. She kissed him again, thinking only happiness was ahead for her and Lion-O.
