Darkslayer Part Nine: Secrets Revealed, and Love in It's
Many Forms
Lion-O finished his duty roster
and posted it outside the council chamber door. As people returned
from the kitchen area they filed past to see if they were going on the
mission or not, and what vehicle they were assigned to. Cheetara
looked at the list and saw that all of her small family were going, except
for her. Cheetara felt a small twinge of fear go through her, she
and Tygra had been in battles, lots of them, with many different people
with different types of powers, one of their adversaries had the very power
of unbridled evil itself. Cheetara was sure that Tygra could handle
any situation that occurred, she, however, was not so sure about her cubs.
Cheetara shook her head, she had to remind herself that her children were
not cubs, but full grown adults. Adults in many respects. Kera
and Tygro both had private lives that she and Tygra had tried to ignore,
but worried about. Both Tygro and Kera, for the past few months,
had been coming home late at night with passion scratches on them, tousled
fur, and reeking of the opposite sex. Cheetara and Tygra had talked
in private worriedly about their children's secret liaisons, both took
some small comfort in the fact that the stranger's scents didn't change.
Lately, she and Tygra were out of
sorts with their children. The three of them hadn't been fighting per se,
but she and Tygra made it clear that they didn't like the two of them going
to the orange light district where the bar "The Cat's Tail" was located,
but they all were on friendly terms, despite the low grade arguing.
All of them had always been so close, but now Kera and Tygro both had secrets.
Tygra wouldn't say anything to her, but Cheetara knew that it hurt him,
and truthfully both were afraid that they were engaging in a lifestyle
that was harmful, to say the least. Cheetara sighed. Wilykit stood
next to her and and looked at the paper.
Wilykit knew that she would be going
on the mission in all likelihood, the paper confirmed her suspicion, as
she read, she saw the ship she was to ride in and turned to leave. "MOMMY!"
Wilykit turned instinctively when she heard the word. The two children
ran towards their mother, she knelt and embraced them. Lion-O stepped
forward. "I thought I would take the liberty of sending for them." Wilykit
stood and said, "Thank you Lion-O!"
The small children broke the bonds
of their mother when they saw their next favorite. "Cheetara! Cheetara!"
The two children leapt and hugged Cheetara's legs. "Well, Keena, Tark,
Aren't you two sweet?" Keena looked innocently into Cheetara's eyes. "Do
you have any candy, Cheetara?" Wilykit smiled, her children had learned
the art of schmoozing well. "No,i'm sorry. Why don't you go see Snarf and
Snarfer. I'm sure they have a little candy for two cute children like yourselves."
Wilykit giggled, Keena and Tark could weasel candy out of Mumm-Ra.
Wilykit looked around then at Brod. "Is Thorn at home? Yes, Kitten.
Thank goodness, that cat could have this place destroyed in ten minutes."
Cheetara laughed. Wilykit turned and spoke to her. "Cheetara i'm going
to get the kids ready for bed, and turn in early, so i'll be ready for
tomorrow." Cheetara patted Wilykit on the shoulder, and smiled at Brod
as they turned to walk towards their assigned rooms.
Pumyra and Bengali, along with Tyger
looked at the roster. Tyger was surprised that Lion-O would allow
him to go to Plundarr after his outburst in the council chamber.
Pumyra looked and saw her name, but not Bengali's. Bengali wasn't hurt,
or angry, near as Pumyra could tell, but he did seem upset. "Rowwrr, Pumyra,
i'm going to turn in, see you shortly." Bengali kissed Pumyra's cheek,
and padded quietly towards their room. Pumyra watched after, wondering
what she was going to do, or say to him, she hoped that Bengali was not
feeling left out. Pumyra looked at her son, he looked tired.
"Tyger, why don't you go take a nice hot shower and go lie down, and try
to sleep? Alright."
Tygro looked at the list.
He found his name and felt his stomach tighten. Ardua was his friend, he
wanted to help her, but he was scared. Tygro had fought with some
of the best warriors on Thundera, and been trained by the very best, Panthro,
but no one had ever tried to seriously hurt him, the Plundarians surely
would try to kill them all if they were detected. Tygro felt like
a coward. He knew that Ardua would do almost anything for him, or
any of the others without hesitation, probably. Tygro walked towards
his father in order to tell him he would be absent from the Lair for a
few hours, but his attention turned to the sound of boots marching on the
floor. Tygro looked up. The special soldiers Lion-O had sent
for arrived, they were some of the more exemplary soldiers from the Thunderian
military base nearby.
Tygro glanced at the four, and saw
two very familiar faces, one in particular, all three made eye contact,
they quickly looked away from each other and instantly tried to act as
if they didn't see each other. Tygra, who was still standing in the
hallway, saw the silent exchange, the flush in Tygro's face and wondered.
Lion-O greeted the soldiers, they saluted, Lion-O then took them to the
armory to be assigned their duty weapons.
Panthro looked at the list, damn
right he was going. Panthro walked in the direction of the hangar,
to do a quick checkout of the Feliner, and Thunderstrike as Lion-O had
ordered. He turned, and watched Keena and Tark walk by, stood for a moment,
then himself walked away.
A little later, in the lower levels
of the Lair, Kera handed a checklist to Lion-O, the inventory of the armory.
She had assigned five weapons, four laser pistols for the soldiers and
one for herself, Kera and her mother agreed to let her brother have the
power staff for this trip out. As the soldiers filed past Kera smiled
warmly at one, but when the last soldier walked up to Kera, she smiled,
almost seductively, and winked. Lion-O saw the two quietly flirt
for a split second. When the young soldier was handed his weapon,
he went into the hallway and tried to not act like he was waiting on anyone
in particular. Kera locked the armory door and handed the pass card
to Lion-O, as he walked away, and turned down another hallway, he heard
a giggle and a laugh.
Tygro was outside, in the courtyard,
contemplating the next day's trials, when he felt a presence behind him.
"Tygro? Jella!" Tygro embraced and kissed the woman he loved, they held
hands and sat underneath the candy fruit tree Ardua and Tyger usually occupied.
"Tygro, i'm , No, Jella i'm sorry,
it's just that no one knows about us yet, Jella, it's not that i'm ashamed
of you. I know," Interrupted Jella, "I don't know how to tell our
parents either, don't feel bad!" Tygro put his arm around Jella, and she
purred into his ear. "My name is on the roster to go. I was going to come
see you before you showed up. Tygro, what is this mission for? Or can you
tell me?" Tygro took a few moments to tell Jella about the situation, and
Ardua. Jella then looked at Tygro with a naughty smile. "You were
going to come see little old me tonight?" Tygro growled playfully and kissed
Jella's neck. "I couldn't have left without seeing my baby love.
But as it turns out, the golden girl's record brought her to me!" As the
two shared a passionate kiss, Tygra watched from the doorway, then turned
and walked away. Tygro sat up when his stomach rumbled. "Are you
hungry?" Jella nodded. "Let's go get something to eat then." The couple
headed for the kitchen.
Kera was in the kitchen with her
soldier friend Terron, alone. The two were too wrapped up in each other
to hear Cheetara walk in. "You are awfully brazen, mister!" Cheetara's
first impulse was to slap the young man who had his hands on her daughter,
in places they shouldn't be, then she took a moment and smelled his scent.
Cheetara knew the scent all too well, after a moment of thought, "You."
Cheetara's eyes darkened. "You are the one Kera's been seeing! HOW DARE
YOU BED MY DAUGHTER!" The young soldier's eyes were lit with genuine
fear as he backed away from Cheetara. Cheetara took a step closer
to him and Terron tripped on a chair and fell backwards, hitting his head.
Tygra who was nearby ran into the room followed soon by Tygro and Jella.
Tygra growled, "What is going on here?" Jella knelt on the floor
with her brother, checking his head.
Tygro was on one side next to Cheetara,
Tygra on the other, holding her to prevent her from doing something she
would regret. Kera looked at Terron and angrily jumped into the middle
of all the people and screamed at the top of her lungs, "HOLD IT!"
Kera was panting, Terron, a big muscular man, was still on the floor, cowering
from Cheetara who hadn't done anything to him, yet, and Tygra had
a look of complete confusion on his face, he had never seen Cheetara so
angry in his entire life, and he was quietly grateful it wasn't at him.
Kera looked at her father and mother and said, "Tygro, if there's any time
it's now." Cheetara and Tygra looked at Tygro as he quietly nodded. Tygro
looked at them all and said, "Let's sit down, and please let us finish
talking before you start yelling."
Kera and Tygro, with Jella and Terron
chiming in when necessary, told Cheetara and Tygra about soon after Ardua's
second departure how they all met at the Cat's Tail. For a
year they met each other for dates, and how both respective couples eventually
fell in love with each other.
Cheetara and Tygra sat at the table
in silence, and surprise, as Kera told them how it was her idea for them
to get married in secret on planet Selacia together because no blood test
was required, and there was an added incentive for both couples to get
married at the same time, because at the temple they went to, there was
a buy one marriage get one free special.
They all desperately tried to convince
Cheetara and Tygra that they all were in love, real love, they couldn't
live without each other, and that when they got married they were all sober.
When Kera, and the rest finished explaining, Cheetara and Tygra were still
trying to digest all the information they had. Kera explained to
Cheetara and Tygra that they were the only ones that knew.
"Well," Asked Tygro, "are we disowned,
do you hate us, what?" Cheetara looked at Kera, she was on the verge of
tears, Terron still looked afraid, and Jella held onto Tygro's hand on
the table. All four kids looked pitiful and worried.
Tygra sighed and looked at Cheetara,
she looked back, closed her eyes, and a low chuckle started in her throat,
Tygra's mouth formed a smile, then cracked into a wide grin, and soon Cheetara
and Tygra were laughing loudly and leaning back in their chairs. A perplexed
look came from the four young people. "Oh, Terron, Jella!" Cheetara
stood and outstretched her arms, "Welcome to the family! Yes, indeed!"
Added Tygra. All six got up cried, laughed, hugged and kissed.
Cheetara and Tygra respectively had sighs relief inside, because their
minds had conjured up much worse scenarios as to what their children were
up to.
After a few hours of conversation,
and eating, Tygra, Cheetara, and the rest decided to turn in for the night.
Kera and Terron went into her room clinging to each other, Jella and Tygro
in his, he carried her.
Cheetara and Tygra walked into their
room and disrobed for bed. Tygra sat on the bed and looked at his mate.
"I wouldn't have believed it if it were anyone else's kids." Said Tygra.
Cheetara cuddled up with Tygra, and put her head on his chest. "I wouldn't
either. At least our kids aren't boring." Tygra chuckled and stroked
the spotted fur on his wife's arm. "Yes, they do keep things interesting.
What do you think of Jella and Terron, Cheetara?" Cheetara thought for
a long while listening to her mate quietly breathe. "I like them, what
do you think, Tygra? Tygra?" Tygra was fast asleep, Cheetara sighed and
soon followed.
Wilykit bathed and dressed her children
for bed. Snarf and Snarfer wanted to read them stories and tuck them in,
so she kissed them good night and went into her's and Brod's room.
Brod stood and hugged his
mate. "Are you tired, Kitten?" Wilykit smiled and brushed the tawny brown
fur on his face, and then kissed his muzzle. "I don't think tired is the
word, Brod." Wilykit stretched as Brod unbuckled the bandolier strap, and
the belt on Wilykit's waist, and placed it on the dresser.
Wilykit sat down on the bed and removed her boots, she was accustomed to
wearing sandals, so her feet were tired and hot. Brod knelt and rubbed
them. "Thank you. That feels good." Brod looked into Wilykit's eyes. "Do
you know anything about Ardua? No, we don't know yet. I hope she is alright
wherever she is." Brod then got onto the bed and began to rub her
shoulders he asked, "Are the kittens in bed? Yes."
As he kissed down her neck he reached
into the pouch that was always at his side and got out a ring. "Brod, please
don't put that on, I love you the way you are. I know, but you are close
to your season, there is a chance that we could," As Wilykit interrupted
and pulled Brod closer she smiled. "I'm not in the mood to argue with you
now." As Wilykit kissed her mate, he slipped the ring onto his finger,
a bluish shimmer radiated around his body as he underwent an astounding
transformation, soon Brod's body took on the form of a panther, lynx hybrid.
"You know," said Wilykit seductively "I like you better the other way."
Brod began tugging clothing off of his wife. "As I recall, Kitten, you
rather enjoy me in this form too." Wilykit pulled down the sheets to their
bed. As Brod turned off the lights they embraced, and melted into each
other's arms.
Pumyra walked into her room, she
saw Bengali sitting on the bed reading a book. "What, Bengali, not courtyard
spying? Rowwrr, did you just come to bed to insult me?" Pumyra noticed
Bengali was in good humor. "No, dear." Pumyra sighed, relieved. "Is Tyger
resting?" Asked Bengali. Pumyra answered. "He said he was going to. Hmmm."
Bengali put down the book and looked at Pumyra. "You know i'm not mad about
not going, don't you?" Pumyra looked at Bengali in curiosity. "I just don't
want you two to get hurt, That's all." Pumyra took Bengali's book,
marked the place, put it on the night stand and scooted up next to him
on the bed. "Hold me." Bengali put his arm around Pumyra and stroked
her brown and white hair. She purred.
Tyger got up after a short nap,
dressed and walked out of his room, he crept down the hall. Tyger
stopped at Panthro's room first, he was going to knock but didn't bother,
he knew Panthro would be in the hangar, then walked one door down and opened
Ardua's room. He turned on the light and walked in, then closed the door.
He looked at the bed and saw the toolbox, Tyger smiled, he was pretty surprised
at how Panthro doted on Ardua to this day, sort of like she was still a
little girl. Panthro was always so gruff, and matter of fact but
in Ardua's presence he was completely different, he still kept his air
of toughness, but he was lighter somehow. Tyger remembered how she
could get away with a little more mischief than the rest of their little
group, although admittedly they never did anything really bad.
Tyger picked up the tool box and
put it on the floor, then sat on her bed. Tyger picked up a bottle of perfume
and smelled it. Ardua's favorite scent. His too. Tyger remembered how good
she smelled with it on the night under the candy fruit trees at 'Kit and
Brod's, and when they were in the courtyard after their bonding .
He couldn't get to sleep that night, because the scent hung on his fingertips,
and fur. Tygro leaned back and soon was lying on her bed. He wondered what
it would be like to, Tyger got up, he didn't need to be thinking like that,
although he had fantasized about it thousands of times.
Tyger was no stranger to the sex
act, he had slept with Zia, a lot. At times Tyger wished he hadn't,
but he enjoyed it too, it kind of made him feel guilty though, there was
no love in it, just physical pleasure. Tyger and Zia's relationship was
empty, when they were through, she didn't give a damn about his day, or
how he felt, they just made love, no it wasn't that, it was sex, something
to pass the time when there was nothing else to do. They used each
other. Tyger cringed when he thought of all of the other men he had
shared her with, but desperation knows no shame. He remembered how
angry he was at Zia the day he broke his ties with her. "What's wrong,
Tyger going back to your mutant whore?" Tyger still got angry, if he weren't
a better man he would have hit her. Tyger wondered if Ardua had ever
had intimate contact with a male before, or if she wanted him as much as
he did her. Tyger wiped all of those thoughts out of his head as
best he could.
Tyger straightened the bedspread,
and placed the toolbox back onto the bed and wondered what a sight it would
be to watch Panthro the Mighty to tie a big loud ribbon on something.
Lion-O and Lynxana sat in his study
talking and sipping candy fruit wine. "Lynxana, Thank you for helping us.
I'm sorry I didn't trust you in the bar. It's alright cub, I have a reputation
that precedes me." Lion-O took another sip. "What will you do when this
whole affair is over?" Lynxana sighed. "I suppose I will go back to bounty
hunting." Lion-O thought for a moment. "You can't do that forever.
What will you do when you get old?" Lynxana just looked at Lion-O and said
with a chillingly calm rational voice, "I will probably get killed before
I get really old." Lion-O put his hand on his chin and stroked it.
"How would you like to come home? Be a Thundercat again? We offered you
to do so on Third Earth when you helped us save Jaga." Lynxana laughed
with an evil tone. "I challenged your father with rebellion, Lion-O, caught
all of you Thundercats and gave you over to the mutants. As I told you
on Third Earth you are too trusting. Yes," Said Lion-O, "But it was also
you that had a change of heart and saved the very people you hated the
most, tells a lot about the real you. What do you say?" There was a long
silence. "I'll think about it, cub." Lion-O poured Lynxana another
glass and they spoke about other things.
Tyger walked into the hangar. Panthro
was practicing with his nun-chucks. Tyger watched in awe as the blue and
red whipped around the gray panther. Panthro stopped and motioned
for Tyger to sit. Tyger took a seat at the work table, as Panthro moved
oily parts aside. Panthro disappeared for a few moments and produced two
large cold mugs of his special brew. Tyger took a sip as Panthro
took out a deck of cards. Panthro looked at Tyger gently, the first time
Tyger ever recalled Panthro ever doing so to him. For the rest of
the evening Tyger and Panthro drank and played cards, in comfortable silence
like two old friends.
The next morning light broke through
the windows of the hangar. Tyger was awakened by a rude ray of light piercing
his eyelid. Tyger rose stiffly stretched, and then stood. Panthro
soon followed suit, and rose from the table where they had both slept.
Tyger looked at Panthro and pointed at his own cheek and said, "Um, Panthro,
you uh, have some bolts on your face, man." Panthro brushed his left
cheek and tiny bolts fell to the table and floor, leaving a skewed honeycomb
pattern on his face. When Tyger didn't laugh at him Panthro stood tall
and said, "You're alright kid." Tyger felt accepted by him, finally.
Tygra and Cheetara walked down to
breakfast, finding entertainment in the fact that their children, and new
found in-laws hadn't come out of their rooms for air yet. They sat
in the dining area and told all of the Thundercats about the secret weddings.
All of them, Tyger especially, were in shock. Brod, in his true form,
and Wilykit held hands under the table, as they watched their children
eat. When Tygro, Jella, Terron, and Kera all finally walked into the dining
room, everyone applauded.
After a few wise but good natured
remarks everyone ate and tried not to think of what loomed before them.
