Tarnished Memories
3) Black
AJ Angel

Angela sat in the dark, a single light shone down on her. She sat with her legs at both sides
of the chair legs, hands lacced, head bowed, and leaned forward so there was a heavy black
shadow on the floor.

"Angela," said a voice and she looked up. There was no else in the room yet there was a voice.
"Why dId you search so hard for this locket?" the voice asked.
"It's all I have left," Angela said.
"You still have what's around you. Your home, freinds, and even a small family," the voice said.
Angela shook her head.
"No, of my past," Angela said.
"Really?" the voice asked and cloaked figures surounded her.
"Angela, in order to become who you are now. You had to shed off your past and done your
future," one said.
"No. That's not right," Angela said.
"It is true," another said.
"It's my precious token from then. The only thing left," Angela said, her voice beginning to
shake.
"It is?" they all asked.

Angela sat straight up in bed. She was back at the mansion and it was midday. After the fight
at Castle Plundar, Angela had dropped to her knees from the lack of energy. She moaned at her
ran her fingers through her hair and looked out the window to the green the spread all around.
"I keep forgetting that using rage drains a lot from me. Good thing I did eat before I left
Cat's Lair or I would have passed out afterwards," Angela said, sat up, and swung her legs to
the side of the bed. The dream came back to haunt her and she began to think about things.
Was the locket really that important? Could she really go face Mumm Ra to get it back?

The last time she faced him was with Sophia and Lion-O, and they had combined their powers to
put him to sleep for four months. She knew that Sophia would want to go this time to help. But,
somethng deep inside was telling her not to. Her hand drifted back to her neck and found to
lokcket to play with. And a pang hit her heart right then. This triggered the memeory of all
the other things she had slowly lost or had been stolen. Stuff that held precious ememories
and were gifts from beloved family and freinds. This all made the pang stronger and she made
a desision right then and there.

Downstairs, Sophia was with the twins and Cheetara. Discussing what to do next.
"Once she wakes up, we'll meet up with the others and all go the Black Pyramid," Cheetara said.
Sophia noddded.
"The others were nothing compared to Mummra and she can't face him alone. Even with her rage
filling her," Kit said.
"Yes, but Angela has the tendency to sleep off her anger. So, that wouldn't work unless
something set her off," Sophia said, then something began to itch at her senses.
"I think it's time to see if she's awake," Sophia said and got up leaveing the three
Thundercats. She went upstairs and to the room they had left Angela in. She gently rapped
on the door.
"Angela? You awake?" she asked. There was silence on the other side of the door. Sophia opened
it and found that Angela wasn't in the room. For a moment, she thought that she had gotten the
wrong room then noticed the peice of paper on the bed. Sophia picked it up, read what was
written on it, and her eyes went wide as her heart sank.
"GUYS!" Sophia shouted, dashing out of the room.

Far ahead of them all, Angela was flying high in the clouds towards the Black Pyramid.
She had decided that the locket was worth the toruble of getting back. She also felt that
she didn't want Sophia ever stepping foot in the pyramid ever again. If she would use another
rage attack, Sophia would help and it would hurt her heart. Just like it had hurt Angela's both
times before. Yet, Angela felt worried as she flew. For she knew something big was going to
happen at the Black Pyramid.

Sophia was downstairs with the others showing them the note, which read:

Sophia,
Trust me now more than ever. I can't let you go there this time, for I don't want you to hurt
yourself like i have twice before. I know that it may seem that I'm going crazy over a locket,
but this one is precious somehow. Also, Mummra wanted me to go alone. I'm very sorry that I tell
you this before I slept off my anger. Please, trust me and don't follow.

Angela

"What in the world is she thinking?" Kat asked.
"I honestly don't know," Cheetara said.
"I have a good feeling what this maybe about. But, we'll have to tell the others about this,"
Sophia said.
"How?" Kit asked.
"Everyone hold hands, now," Sophia said. They did so as she grabbed two hands and she
teleported everyone to Cat's Lair in a flash.

Mummra was watching everything develope from his chauldron with Marr Mutt. He smiled and
laughed at this.
"So, Angela has decided to come alone after all. And the Thundercats are planning on following
her. Well, we'll have a nice little surprise for them all when they arrive. Won't we
Marr Mutt?" Mumm Ra asked his pet, who barked back.

Angela got there first, landing gracfully on the sands surounding the pyarmid. Just outside
the four obolisks that stood at each direction. She shivered as a warm wind blewpast her,
the place gave her the hebegebes. It was so quiet and lifeless. She didn't count Mumm Ra and
his dog as being alive though. She began to walk towards the pyramid right then, not looking
back to notice the Thundetank speeding towards the pyramid.
"Angela!" Sophia shouted. Angela stiffened and stopped in her tracks when she heard this.
"No," she whispered and looked back. The tank parked outside the four obolisks and everyone
got out to stop Angela. But, lighting came down and struck the four structures. They used
this energy to make an elctric fence that kept everyone out. But some couldn't stop in time
before they got a little shock form it.

"Sophia!" Angela shouted and dashed over to the fence.
"I'm allright Angela, but we can't get past this," Sophia said.
"And none of you will," said a voice. They all looked and saw an image of Mummra on the side
of the pyramid.
"Angela, your locket is in here with me. Do you still want it?" Mummra asked.
"Angela. What's so important about that locket?" someone asked her. She looked back a tear
running down her face.
"That locket is the only thing i have left of my past, and it's connected to me somehow. When
I reach for it and find it gone, my heart hurts more than when I use my rage attacks," Angela
said. The others gasps when they heard this, and Sophia could hear her sadness.
"Angela, I'm sorry...I never knew," Sophia said. Angela smiled.
"It's allright. You aren't the first to question that," Angela said, taking a step away from
the electric fence. Sophia looked confussed.
"Wait, who else questioned you?" Sophia asked.
"The ones on in balck who came to me in my dreams," Angela said, as she turned and walked away
from the fence. Sophia gasped as her eyes widen when she heard that. As Angela walked closer
to the pyrmaid, a door opened and she enetered it as she glanced back over her shoulder and
her tear fell to the ground where a small balck plant grew in it's place.

"Sophia, what is she talking about?" Lion-o asked.
"This whole thing isn't just a coincidence. The gods are testing smothing about her. But this
time, something may go wrong," Sophia said.
"Can't you get us in there?" Cheetara asked.
"I can, but not all of you. I was just barley able to get us four over to Cat's Lair earlier,"
Sophia said.
"You don't have to do that all at once. You can take over a few at a time," Kat said.
"You're right. Let's do this then," Sophia said.

Angela walked down the corridors, guided by a ball of light. She remembered the last time she
came down these halls. The mutants had her and she had used a spell to blind them for a mo.
But, she had fuzzed her vision even though she had closed her eyes and ran blindly the wrong
way. She reached for her locket and still found it gone, the pang returning with a vengance as
she qucikcend her pace. Soon, she was out of the dusty hall and in the center cryptn where
Mumm Ra waited for her with Marr Mutt in his arms. The ball went to the pool of water and
fadded into it. It was then that she saw her locket hanging above the purple water. It glinted
in what little light leaked into the room.

"I'm glad that you came as I asked, but you didn't come alone," Mummra said. Angela grimaced.
"They came on thier own, I didn't asked them to come," Angela said.
"So, you really think that you can fight me to get to your locket?" Mummra asked. Angela was
silent for a mo as she looked down in througt about that. Mummra smiled, knowing that she was
secretly doubting herself.
"So, shall we begin negotiations?" Mummra asked.
"What do you want Mummra?" she asked. He smiled.
"What do you think I want?" he asked.

Outside, Sophia and the Thundercats were trying to find a way in.
"Angela had to gotten in somehow," Tygra said.
"Maybe we can go in the way I did during my anointment..." Lion-O satarted.
"No. That'll take to long. Who know what could be happening in there now," Sophia said then
noticed something.
"Hey look," Sophia said, and pointed out a small black flower.
"So, Mummra might be getting into some gardening," Kit said.
"Yeah, the place sure does need it," Kat said.
"No, that's a Sorrow's Tear. Angela had a tear rolling down her face back over there and it
must have fell here when she entered," Sophia said, and looked over the section.
"This is the door, but how do we open it?" Sophia asked.

Angela clasped her hands tigther together.
"You want access to all the data in the computers back at the mansion," Angela said. Of course,
it was what had been after ever since Earth ended and why the girls had quietly slipped away
from everyone else on the planet. Now, Angela was regreting for the frist time that she had
ever opened a trade of information with the Thundercats. Even if had helped them a few times
in the past. Suddenly, the figures in black cloaks appaeared. Angela saw them but Mummra
didn't.

"Angela, are you sure that this is the right hting to do?" they asked. Mummra jumped when
they said that, he couldn't see them. But he could sure as hell hear them.
"Of course. I need to get that locket back," Angela said, going spacey.
"Who on 3rd Earth said that?" Mummra asked.
"The ones in the black robes," Angela said.
"Why do you need the locket?" they asked.
"Beacuse, it's the only thing left from my past. The rest was lost or taken..." Angela said,
suddenly there was the sound of doors openeing. Mummra looked and saw that the Thundercats
had found the door Angela used to get in. He sneered at this before chainging into Mummra, the
Everliving. It was then he saw them.

"Who are you and why are you here?" he asked them quicklky.
"We are the judges in this matter, we are here to observe, not to help or interfere," they
said.
"Good," Mummra said and turned to Angela.
"As for you," he said and shot some energy at her as the Thundercats enetered the room.
"Angela!" Sophia screched and ran to her falling Angela as the others fought with Mummra to
protect them. Angela moaned in her arms and left her trance. Sophia looked around and saw them
cloaked judges. She could faintly see who was under the hoods.
"Why are you doing this to her?" Sophia asked.
"Lessons learns and knowledged gain," one said softly to her.
Sophia looked at that one as Angela moaned again. In her mind she was dreaming about the past.
All the goods times and bad times flashed through her mind. Then, she saw herself in the mansion
all alone, except for the spirits and animals. And everytime she touched her locket, the memories
would come to her like a favorite movie.

"Sophia?" she asked. Sophia looked at her, glad to see Angela fluttering her eys open.
"Angela, I'm sorry but we had to come," Sophia said, as she helped her to stand up.
"It's allright. You were right to come and bring the others. This is the way things were
ment to play out," Angela said, and looked to her locket. She held her right hand out to it.
"Heart of my heart, soul of my love. Return home to me," she said. Mummra heard this and looked
just in time to see the locket twinkle out of existence and Angela held her right hand over her
heart and she sighed as a light glow came from her chest and evryone could now see the cloaked
ones.

"Where's the locket?" Mummra asked, a little frantic.
"It's here in my heart, where it first came from and belongs," Angela said, surprising all
but the cloaked ones.
"I made the locket myself, a copy from what was real. And filled it with my most prescious
memories. Even when Sophia came to me, I never put it back in my heart and I lost the meaning
of it's true value," Angela said and face the cloaked ones.
"I didn't shed everyhting from my past. It is the past that made me what I am...what we are now,
and nothing can change that," Angela said. The cloaked ones smiled and slid back into the
shadows. Angela smiled, the truth had set her free and allowed her to pass the judgement.

"Let's go then," Angela said, and turned away from Mummra.
"What?" he asked.
"Let's get out of here and I'll explaine it all back at the Lair," Angela said. The Thundercats
looked at each other, at Angela, then at Mummra.
"If she said let's go, then let's go," Sophia said. A few shruged and began to walk away.
"NO! We had a deal!" Mummra shouted. Angela faced him with the coldest look on her face.
"As I remember, we made no deal before they came. And since you have nothing, you're getting
nothing," Angela said, guidning some of the Thundercats out.
"I can take anything from you, anything from your home," Mummra threatened. Angela laughed.
"Like you can get into those woods to save your life, you weakling," Angela said. She
heard a few gasps, but didn't care. She was very confident right now...and bold(but that's not
what the Thundercats were thinking).
Mummra was not happy as she turned her back to him and began to walk away.
"I've done it before and I can do it again," he said all of a sudden. Everyone stopped in
there tracks.

"What did you say?" Angela said in her icy voice, not looking back at Mummra. Marrmut could
sense her rising anger and whimpered as he slipped into the shaodws with the cloaked ones.
"You heard me. I've taken many things of yours before, so much I lost track," Mummra said.
"Like the black velevt lined pural box with my family signia enscribed in silveron top?"
Angela asked.
"Yes, and other things to," Mummra said, feeling like he had some leverage now. Angela's eyes
were glowing red now and she was scaring her freinds as she slowly turned to Mummra with a
slight growl. Mummra gulped at that moment.
"Sophia, I suggest you take our friends down the hall a bit," Angela said, slowly raising her
hands and crossing the wrists over her heart as she curled her fingers, looked right at
Mummra, and her fingers began to glow red.

"I think we should go," Sophia said.
"But..."
"Now," Sophia hissed, looking at whoever said that with a urgent look on her face. The others
got the hint and let her guide them out of the crpyt leaving Angela and Mummra alone.
Angela stayed in that pose as the red energy spread to the rest of her hands.
"Uh...can we finish our negotionations now?" Mummra asked.
"No. I'm going to teach you a lesson," Angela said.
"Ang what lesson would that be?" Mummra asked, as Angela unfrurled her wings, and her whole
body glowed red energy.
"Don't steal from me," Angela said, in a metallic voice. Mummra gasped.
"No! If you used this much rage, you'll break your own heart," Mummra said.
"Wanna bet?" Angela asked and closed her eyes and tilted her head up as the energy wavered.

"Forces beyond Twilight
Crismson blood that flows
Hidden deep in the stream of time
Is where our power grows," Angela said, uncrossing her wrists and holding our her hands. Energy
flowed from her and all aroung to her hands, swriling in a ball.
"I pledge with my beating heart," Angela said, and the sound of her heart beat is heard by all
in and out of the pyramid.Sophia gasped.
"Om my gods," Sophia said.
"What?"
"Duck and cover," Sophia said.

Inside, Angela held the ball to her heart.
"To vanquish all who stand
Before the power I hold in
My unworthy hands," Sophia said, opened her eyes and a roar is heard.
"Dragon Rage Conquest!" Sophia shouted, and aimed the ball of energy at Mummra. It shot at him
as it took the form of a dragon. As it attakced there was a big exlposion & blocks were blown
out of place as everyone took cover out side and looked on with awe.
"What was that?" Kit asked.
"Angela's greatest attack," Sophia said as Angela walked out of the Pyramid unscathed.
"Let's go," she simply said. And that was the last anyone spoke while leaving.

Later, everyone was riding back to Cat's Lair and Angela had a smile on her face as she held a
violet polsihed woden box in her lap.
"What's that?" Sophia asked. Angela opened and gasped.
"These are the bracletes the others and I used to transform into Magick Warriors. They
were taken during the end of Earth, but I was never able to find them...untill now," Angela said.
"Did Mummra use their power?" Kat asked. Angel shook her head.
"Never did. The braclets have wills of thier own and knew what Mummra would have done with
their power. So, they went dormant," Angela said.
"So, now you have them back and the your memories have been returned to your heart," Cheetara
said. Angela nodded.
"Yes. The whole point of this was to return those two to their proper places," Angela said.
"Are you going to let anyone use the bracelets?" Kat asked. Angela thought about it.
"I don't think so. This planet seems well protected enough without their power. But,
the gods will pick out thier next wearers in the future," Angela said.
"Yes, and untill then. We will protect them together untill the times comes," Sophia said,
resting her hand on the lid and closing the box. Angela smiled, happy to know that the nightmare
was over and peace had returned to her heart. And in the distance, the cloaked ones pulled back
thier hoods. They were some of the last ones to wear the braceletes!
Love W, Star W, Sun W, Moon W, and Dream W. The outer Magick Warriors. Smiles formed on their
faces as they watched the Tundertank drive away, as if they had been able to hear what was said
inside it.
"Our job is done, we can now rest in peace once more," Love W said and they vanished into thin
air.
