Grade: 730
Adhesive for bonding vulcanised NBR to NBR and Metals.
Introduction
Polyloc 730 is a single coat adhesive system for bonding vulcanised (cured) or unvulcanised Nitrile (NBR) to NBR, or NBR to metals and other rigid substrates. This adhesive system produces bonds that are outstandingly resistant to all kinds of environmental conditions and corrosion, and capable of withstanding extreme static and dynamic stresses.
Polyloc 730 is used in the manufacture of various industrial items like fuel and air-conditioning hoses, cots and aprons, and other rubber to metal bonded products.

Preparation of Metal Surface
This is the most critical and important step for any bonding application. The metallic or non-metallic surface should be properly cleaned of all contaminants such as oil, grease, rust, scales, dirt, etc. by suitable mechanical and/or chemical methods.
Grit/sand blasting, and wire cloth abrading are commonly established mechanical methods of metal preparation for most metals, and give excellent results. This method allows creation of increased surface area, resulting in better bonding.
Chemical treatment of the metal surface by phosphatising results in a highly corrosion resistant and bondable surface. The general steps are: Water rinse - Acid pickle - Water rinse - Phosphatise - Water rinse - Chromate rinse. It is mainly recommended in products where there are very tight size specifications of the metal part.
The ultimate intention is to present a totally clean substrate surface for bonding.
Application of the Adhesive
Polyloc 730 may be applied by dip, spray or brush depending on the size and nature of the surface to be coated. Brushing is the most widely used method. The application of a thin and uniform coating of the bonding agent, free from excessive runs or fatty edges is an essential condition for optimum bonding results.
Dilution of the adhesive should be done immediately before application. The coated parts should be used within 7 days. They should be given another coat of adhesive if not used within this time period.
It takes 30 minutes for Polyloc 730 to dry at room temperature. For faster drying, hot air tunnels or drying ovens can be used (10 min at 50oC).
Vulcanisation / Bonding
Prepare compound of the elastomer and vulcanise as per manufacturers specifications. Polyloc 730 will bond NBR during the vulcanisation process by most of the commonly used curing techniques. For best results, curing temperature should be maintained between 130oC and 160oC.
For bonding cured NBR, proper care should be taken to ensure that there is intimate contact between the rubber and the surface to be bonded. Appropriate pressure should be applied for sufficient period of time to enable the bond to set properly.
Cautionary Information
This product is meant for industrial use only. It contains highly volatile solvents; keep product away from heat, direct sunlight and open flame. Vapors may be harmful and prolonged breathing should be avoided. May be harmful or fatal if swallowed
