Death Mountain
Death Mountain is not as deadly as its name suggests. Follow the mountain trail until it enters into a large cave - this is the entrance to Goron City. There is not much that you can do here at first, for a Goron named Darunia is hiding the sacred stone that you are looking for. In addition to this, Darunia is also hiding himself behind a large stone door. The way to get into his private chamber is to play Zelda's Lullaby on the green "doormat" in front of the door. You will then gain admittance to Darunia's chamber. However, he will be in an extremely bitchy mood. To cheer him up, play Saria's Song. After you play, he will give you the Goron's Glove.
This useful item allows you to pick the bomb flowers that grow in Goron City and in the Death Mountain vicinity. After you receive this item, go back outside and head to the right. You will see a lone Bomb Flower growing. Pick it up and toss it over the cliff right in front of you. It will land next to a huge pile of rocks and explode, revealing the entrance to Dodongo's Cavern. After this, go back into Goron City. Pick up Bomb Flowers and destroy every huge boulder blocking the way. In addition, there are some strange looking walls that can also be blown up with the Bomb Flowers. Behind about 4 or 5 of these walls, you will find a very large Goron. He will tell you to come back in about 7 years to receive a very powerful item. He is referring to the Giant's Knife, which will be sold for 200 rupees, I think. Do not purchase this weapon - it sucks! It will break after about 5 connecting swings. There is a better Giant's Knife - and it is called the Biggoron Sword. There is also a tunnel in Goron City that leads to the Lost Woods of Kokiri Forest.
You must detonate Bomb Flowers by the boulders blocking the way. On the lowest level of Goron City, there is a wall that you can blow apart with a Bomb Flower - this opens the path to the Goron City Shop. You cannot, however, purchase bombs yet - you must first go to Dodongo's Cavern, which is in the next section…
