One strong belief among most wiccans is that the Earth is our home; our Goddess. We feel that it's not a tool that we can ruthlessly abuse which is why many rituals are performed to give healing strength to the Earth. Even though ecological concerns are rather new in Wicca, but now pay an important role.
Reincarnation is another one of the most wide-spread of Wiccan beliefs. Precisely how and why we incarnate several times is open to mystical speculation though. We feel that power can be sent in a non-physical form to affect the world in positive ways, which is why we accept both the practice of magick and its effectiveness. To further evaluate this point we feel that what is done will be returned to the doer, but how this energy is returned has been a matter of great speculation.
Another strength about our beliefs is that wiccans don't charge for private lessons or for initiation. Yet we still believe that physical objects created by Wiccans and other services can and should be paid for, but not personal or private Wiccan instruction or initiation.
Wiccans do not and I reapeat do not sacrifice animals or people in rituals!! That is a disgusting idea and it goes against one of our greats laws of wicca which is do not cause physical, spitirual, mental, or any other form of harm to others. There is one expception to this rule and that is if it is in self defense and only in self defense!
Wicca does not disgriminate! We accepts members from both sexes, every race, national origin and, usually of every sexual preference.
Others People's Beliefs About Wicca
One thing I have realized as I've been putting this page together and while talking to others about the craft is that most people see the craft as something of a secret, underground, like hush hush thing. I'd like to point out that we don't keep it a secret and to prove this I'd like to direct those people towards the nearest bookstore. There are many books out there about Wicca.
Another common belief among non-craftmembers is that wicca is not truly a religion. With this common belief I'd like to state that in 1994 The World Parliment Of Religions invited some Wicca/Witchcraft members to The World Parliment Of Religions Confrence in Chicago were wicca was reconized as a religion.
We have no need to go out and spread the word about wicca out that it is out there because those that are ment to become witches and follow the wiccan path with find the path themselves. We feel though that answering questions about our religion is far different from knocking on doors and asking strangers, "Have you heard the word of the God/Goddess today?" Wicca also accepts that every religion is correct to its adherents. Although this doesn't mean that we like every representative of every religion, but ecumenicism must be the way of life.
