My Dear Charlotte,

I am not shure weather you owe us a letter are we owe you one. As I think
our letters was on the way simnultanusly, so I sepose I better write you a note
and let you know mother and I are geting along o.k. As long as we can be up and
around it is not so bad. Aunt Selma has been Ill for a few days but is geting
better. She had a cold and sore throat.
I have finished reading The Voice from the Dust, and have been reading other
books. When you have completed your reading in the Book The Children of God
I would like to read it. You made mention of the Book refuring to Joseph for-
geting his statements regarding the visits of Moroni and the hill Cumorah. I do not
find any conterdicteon in the statement of Joseph. When the angel visited him,
Joseph saw him with his natural e es. When Moroni refured to the Hill Cumorah
and the plates, the prophet saw the place where the record was in vision, so that
when he went to the hill he new just where the place was. As to Joseph eloping
with Emma. I do not think there was much of an elopement. Althow Emma's
father swore out a complaint stating Joseph had stolen his daughter and eloped with
her. Almost every young man steals the heart of his sweetheart. Of corse Joseph
fell in love with Emma. She being avery beautiful woman and Joseph to was a hansum
fellow. Emma's father refusing to give Joseph his daughter. So Joseph naturly
desided he would not work for the old man. And went home to his parents which
was a wise decision. Of corse Emma loved Joseph so Sincerely she could not live
without him so she folowed him. Then there was nothing else to do but marrey the girl.
Not so bad. Emma was of age. She was no child. 23.
Well my Dearest Charlotte I hope you are all well and your loved ones, and I
hope Lue is geting back on both feet again. I wonder if he was not looking
acros the street at some blue eyed girl and all at once thinking he was dansing
with her and fell of the fence. Posobley he did not like to make full explenations.
You Know when love strikes you the mind is sent wandering----We Just received
a letter from Luella. They has all had the flue, but are over it.
Mother and I sends Love and good wishes to you and yours.

                                             Very Sincerely,
                                               Your Father.
