Bits and Pieces from Suzanne
Charlotte's best friend when she was growing up was Zeda. Zeda lived just down the
street from Charlotte. At the end of their High School year the two of them went to be
fitted for their Graduation dresses - pretty formals. They got caught in a terrible storm on
their way home and both came down with pneumonia. They were very sick. While
Grandma lay sick in bed one night she saw Zeda come to her through her upstairs
window. She reached out to Grandma and said hurry put on your dress and come we will
be late. Grandma told her she couldn't come now. Zeda told her she couldn't wait for
her, she had to go now or she would be late. Grandma said she couldn't go with her now
because papa would be very upset. Zeda told her when it was time she would come back
for her, then she left. When Grandma broke out of her fever and came to from the
pneumonia she was told that Zeda had passed away. This was a very hard loss for my
Grandma. She told me she always felt like when she did die that Zeda would be there for
her.
