Merrill Budge Anderson
Merrill Budge Anderson, beloved father and grandfather, died November 22, 998 at
Lakeview Hospital, Bountiful, of causes Incident to age.
Born September 26, 1909 in Logon, Utah, to John Hyrum Anderson and Annie
Charlotte Eliason. He graduated from Utah Slate University, and received his MBA at
Harvard University. He lived most of his life in Salt Lake City. While serving in the U.S.
Navy Reserves, during World War II, he was one of 13 officers who opened up the
Clearfield Navy Depot. He retired from the Navy as a Commander. He was a Regional
Operating Manager for General Electric for 38 years.
An avid football fan for many years, he cheered for his favorite teams, Utah State
University, BYU and the San Francisco 49ers. He also enjoyed working in his yard and
raising many beautiful orchids. Merrill was an active member of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including serving a
Swiss-German Mission, a guide at Temple Square, and a sealer at the West Jordan, Utah,
Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Morris Anderson: two sons, Richard M Salt Lake
City; Robert David (Sandy), Salt Lake City: two daughters, Barbara Sue (Joseph)
Harrison, West Jordan, and Julie Anderson, Layton: 14 grandchildren, and three
great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, brothers, and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, at 12 noon, Larkin Mortuary,
260 East South Temple, where friends and family may call Friday evening; 6-8 p.m. and
Saturday, one hour prior. Internment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
