History:
This herb and its seeds were
commonly used by the ancient Egyptians. Coriander seeds have been found in
Egyptian tombs, and are still used by Egyptian Copts today, for medicinal
purposes and for cooking. It was also traditionally reputed to be an
aphrodisiac.
Uses:
Coriander has pain relieving properties and
is useful for headaches, muscle pain and stiffness, arthritis and rheumatism.
Coriander is useful as a tea, because of its helpful effects on the digestive
tract, and is good for increasing appetite, and relieving nausea, diarrhea,
flatulence and indigestion. It is reputed to enhance circulation and relieve
fluid retention.The leaves are used in spicy cuisine the world over, both for flavor and to moderate the effects of other spices and peppers on the stomach. The seeds are one of the
ingredients of curry.
