Thyme
History:
Thyme is a popular, easy to grow and refreshing scented herb used since ancient times both in cooking and in herbal medicine, as an expectorant and antiseptic. Thyme has a traditional association with bravery and courage.
Uses:
Thyme is an antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal agent, when used externally as a wash, especially when combined with vinegar. It is helpful for respiratory conditions such as colds, flu or asthma, when used as a cough syrup with honey, and promotes thinning and expectorating thick phlegm and helps ease the spasms of coughing
Cautions:
Avoid excessive use in pregnancy. Generally, no harmful effects reported, unless individual sensitivities occur.
Always:
Be sure of the identity of any plant before you use it. If a preparation makes you sick or gives you a rash, don't use it, and throw it away! If your condition does not improve, see your doctor. Be sure to let your physician know EVERYTHING that you are taking!
