Like they say...you have to take the good with the bad. By the time we saw this canyon we were not only sure it was our canyon...but we were incredibly enthuzed by it.
It had started getting really hot by this point, we had some brush bugs that were bothering us and the same old up and down over dirt and sandstone was getting on our nerves...we wanted ADVENTURE! And we were in for it!
Our first glimpse of the REAL Russel Gultch was an incredibly blessed sight! But even as we hiked on the trail we began wondering if we had missed something somwhere because even though we could see it...we didn't seem to be heading down into it for a long time. Persevere my friendly hikers...for alas the trail WILL lead you into the gultch and when it does...you will know it!
The farther we hiked, the slot got wider...
And wider...until we came to a dead end in the trail...but this was a good thing. It gave us lots of photo material, a nice place to play, and our first look down into the steep ravine that was far more than a mere "gultch."
