10:00 pm Conclusion of initial investigation part 1
It seems very possible that this building may well be haunted I had multiple weird feelings on this walk-thru. Also saw some movements out the corner of my eye in various places (mind could be over active).
I would like to follow up many places in this hotel
I.E. the 13th, 12th, 11th,10th 7th & 5th floors, the Crystal Ball Room, Grand View Room, Yesteryears Restaurant, Oak room, Kitchen area, and all of the Basement.
Second Hotel Walk-Thru (a more detailed analysis of rooms & floors I didn’t previously have access to)

10:45 pm North Elevator (a quick ride up and then down, this elevator is the one that reportedly stops on what ever floor it wants to and people have also claimed to smell perfume when there shouldn’t be any)

A- the E.M.F. activity by the railing is no longer present it originally gave a reading of between 2.5 to about 5 in this 2’ x 4’ area

11:15 – 12:00 am Further Walk-Thru with frank
during this time we investigated the basement area and tunnels around the perimeter of the north and west side of the building, and also the Roof (which used to be a restaurant and allegedly two brothers leapt to there death from the southwest corner of the building) also the 12th floor (storage room) & the 13th floor (frank work shop).
This is where it got pretty interesting if not for the overall creepiness of these areas than for the history and wonderment of what these areas were used for. We started in from the lobby and entered into what used to and will again be a bar we proceeded through a hole in the floor down to a old hair salon and through to the back of the salon there is a 10’ x 8’ cinderblock room with a opening that is about 3’ x 3’ and it is full of water (only thing I could come to gather from this hole is that it may have been the old sewer or a well of some sort) this room was only accessible thru a hole on the lower portion of the south bathroom wall it had a wooden ladder that seemed to be fairly new. Out through the hole and back into the hair salon we then exited out the front of the building onto Washington Blvd. and proceeded to the corner of Washington & another street to a metal door into the ground. Upon entering this area we were told there was an old club that used to be in there we turned to our right (west) and followed a sort of tunnel (the brick foundation of the old bar and rest of the building have a 3’ gap between them and the brick structure that I would suppose leads into the sewer) these “tunnels” are where frank had his experience and are directly under the sidewalk this area has some strange little rooms in it first on the west end of the tunnel there is a chair and charred remains of paper (must have been someone free experience of the Hotel) I would not have sat in here at night by myself for anything. We then proceeded east (toward the basement ball room) and on the right hand side of the tunnel are some little rooms one of which is tiled with black and white tiles and one which looks as if it had some type of generator and it also looked as if someone had tried to break out (into the sewer), one of the holes in the wall was the perfect size and shape of a hand as if someone slapped the wood open handed it even had the thumb. We then entered the basement ball Room and directly across from the door we entered through was another door to the east that led into another old bar with old wooden furniture we preceded to our south through the Basement ball room and to the freight elevator .
(Though I did not pick up any readings on the E.M.F. meter I think this area needs to be explored more thoroughly.)
Kitchen / Freight Elevator is in the south west corner of the building and is the only way to access the 12th & 13th floors other then the fire escape
A- same disturbance as on 7th floor in this area (I was informed that those areas housed the mechanical & elevator equipment)

13th floor walk thru
A- picked up many readings in this area (it had a high volume of electrical equipment)
B- stairs on west side lead to the 12th floor as we proceeded down these I got a reading on the E.M.F. of 3-5 in a 5’ x 3’ area I took a reading above below and around this entity (and got no readings) while at the top of the stairs (it was about 1’ out from the ledge of the 13 staircase floor it was in mid air)
we then walked further down the stairs till I was right underneath where I got the reading and I detected nothing and my hand was well in where I was originally getting readings)
12th floor walk thru
A- as we walked into the room I saw allot of electrical conduit so I got a reading by the ceiling and it was fairly low (you had to be an inch away from the tube to get much) we walked to the east and as I passed a wooden crib I my E.M.F. went crazy first it jumped to about 7 and then registered between 5-6 around the entire crib not above it not 2’ away but just directly around the crib.
B- Another hit around an old heating table (I believe this was the ballast or a related item).
Roof walk thru
My readings here were bouncing all around there was a lot of phone equipment, a satellite dish and a couple antennae’s .

We then proceeded through back through 13th floor to the freight elevator and on down to the main floor where we proceeded to do the interviews.
Maria Samanaguy – Head of Janitorial Crew
A- Kitchen elevator one night felt as if someone was standing there with her and all the sudden she heard a rumble
as if the ground was moving
B- In the Crystal Ball Room she feels as if being watched, the angels seem to move out of the corner of your eye
C- Stated that she frequently feels cold spots in various locations
D- Also stated that she frequently sees movement flashes in various locations
When asked if she truly thought she was really seeing signs of a haunting she stated “I don’t know it could just
Be because I am always so tired when I work here at nights”
My opinion of this witness: she seemed like a credible person, it didn’t seem like she was making things up or trying to make them sound spectacular. Seemed fairly honest about the encounters she had.
Nancy – Night Auditor
This witness has had numerous events happen to her. When asked if she ever thought she was Psychic she stated
“when she was a child one of her parents friends told her she could see things most can’t” she also stated to have had some out of body experiences and even some premonitions, she also stated that she has always been kind of “open” to what goes on around her.
A- (May) First night on the job she was getting her trainee tour of the hotel and her and the security officer were in the Crystal Ball room talking about one of the angels located on the ceiling that has a goatee as she walked underneath it she said she walked through a “energy field” “it was like I walked right into a person or a wall it appeared to be that solid of an object”. She had the assumption it was a “masculine” entity. She didn’t tell the guard seeing as it was her first night she didn’t want them to think she was a “nut case”.
B- (Mid-July) Training with a senior employee (who no longer works here). She was standing at the front desk looking south and all the sudden her and the other lady heard a rumble they looked towards the stairs and a wind came down the stairs in the lobby turned to its right (north) and shook all the leaves on the tree at the end of the stairs it passed all the chandeliers in the lobby and as it passed each one they went dead it made it back around to the south of the building and as it passed the gift shop it set of a motion detector on the inside of the locked room (it has a gate that gets locked after hours & the detector is about three to four feet inside the room)
it then opened both of the exit doors (double doors) (she stated it was like someone threw them open) and it ended, she called for security to come down and check things out and even had him see if he could open the doors as quick as had just happened but he couldn’t open them with the same force ( I also tried to see how heavy the doors were and they are pretty solid metal cased glass doors). She said that there was a party going on up on the 11th floor that was pretty wild, all the ladies had number tags on and they (the whole floor partied all night). She believes that this encounter was a group of spirits because of the force and amount of energy this must have taken.
C- (August) She was standing once again at the front desk, and the machine that prints of a list of the movies people watch in there room (so they can be billed) sent out a print for a movie from room 608 she thought that was weird because no one was booked into 608 so she set the bill aside and thought it could have been a malfunction well about 3 hours later another print out and sure enough it was for 608 so she sent security up to the room to make sure no one had broken into it. About five minutes later the elevator doors opened up and out stepped the security guard she said he was “as white as a ghost” so she asked him what was wrong and he stated that he went up to the room and opened the door and nothing seemed to be vandalized in the front room so he went to the bedroom and walked in and because of the strange events that happen in the hotel said in a joking manor “so you’ve been watching movies again haven’t you” and right as he said that there was a “force” that appeared directly in front of him. She was not really sure to believe him or not so she went up to check the room out herself, when she arrived at the door to the room she put the key card in just as she always does and the light turned green to proceed into the room so she grabbed the door handle and when she turned it, it was as if someone was holding the handle from the inside of the room so she tried again twice and it wouldn’t open so she returned to the lobby because as she put it “something didn’t want me in that room and I really didn’t want to go in there.
D- (Late November) No music was on in the lobby (there is a control in the room behind the front desk to turn it down) and all the sudden she heard Christmas music playing so she thought it could have been from outside but it steadily got louder and louder so she opened the door to the office and turned it back down and about twenty minutes later it happened again and continued all night.
E- (Late December) she was sitting at the front desk and something the size of a hand laid itself on her shoulder so she flung around and said “if you want to talk to me this isn’t the way to do it” and it apparently disappeared.
F- (Late December) She was sitting at the front desk and a phone cord that has partially hanging off the edge of the table lifted itself up about eight inches (so that it was about perpendicular to the desk) and then dropped
G- She told of a housekeeper named Mary who was pushed into the bath tub in room 1102 while cleaning one day (this just happens to be the room where (allegedly) a Miss Eccles (hotel owner) was murdered by way of drowning by her husband)
H- Also stated that Mary took some students on a Halloween tour of the building, one of the kids was an admitted skeptic and was saying out loud he didn’t believe in ghosts and as they passed a door it came open by itself, now that kid is a believer.
Nancy had never heard anything about the hotel or the rumors surrounding it when she started she said it was weird because she wasn’t really looking for a job she was just browsing through the classified ads in the paper and came across this one that she felt she had to call and sure enough she got the job.
My impression of Nancy: She was a nice educated individual whom seemed to be very trustworthy (she does keep track of all the money and charges that occur in the hotel everyday) there were no real times during the interview that I got the impression that she was lying to me (she never really said um or hesitated when telling the stories) also the fact that on a couple of occasions there were other people around that witnessed the same phenomena
Frank – Maintenance
Said he has had a encounter in the tunnels below the hotel, he said that he was in the Basement ball room (in the basement) and opened a door that leads to a old nightclub (and the tunnels that were used for bootlegging which lead to the Ogden train station), he said got halfway into the tunnels and at the far end (west) saw a light floating down at the other end of the corridor that started to come towards him, so as he put it “I turned around and hauled ass down the tunnel and out the door I was probably doing the quarter mile in 2 seconds.
He also talked of a time when they were painting the basement ball room and they had scaffolding along the wall to the west of the room. There were two painters there and one looked down to put more paint on his brush and saw a old lady sanding on the stairs (to a room I did not have access to) she asked him where the lobby was so he got down off the scaffolding and took her out of the room and I guess as he left the second painter did the same thing and also saw the old lady standing where she originally was the first time he then jumped off the scaffolding and ran out of the building.
My impression of Frank was he seemed like a reliable person he had a lot of talk about Santeria and some encounters he had in Puerto Rico. He also stated that he was a true believer. And I think this guy was to friendly to lie it also didn’t seem like he tried to blow his encounter into something it wasn’t.
A- two young men allegedly brothers leapt to their death from the roof
C- A Miss Eccles was reportedly was murdered for her money by her husband in
room1102
D- A woman was reportedly waiting for her son to return from either WW1 or WW2 he never returned, she later committed suicide (they don’t know if at the hotel or after she left but she is rumored to haunt 1106
E- Miss Eccles son reportedly came home from a trip and when he learned of her death he committed suicide in room 1010
I now after having seen the entire hotel and hearing testimonials and even some history of the building do believe this warrants a much further investigation and even greater research into the buildings history and exactly what events would have caused this place to have so much paranormal activity
