Whispers

As I sit watching TV, you are beside me, snuggling close to me. Your head rests on my shoulder. Your hand rests on my thigh. Sometimes you look up at me and whisper "I love you". Sometimes your hand leaves my thigh to gently rub my chest. I am distracted from watching TV and start to watch you, to raise your hand and kiss it. Then I realize, you are not there.

As I sit at my computer, you walk in behind me. You gently rub my shoulders, massaging the tight muscles. Your hands slide down the front to my chest, and you kiss my neck. My hands rise up to take yours and softly caress them. You whisper "I love you" and I smile, happy and contented. Then I realize, you are not there.

As I make my morning coffee, you walk up to me. You reach around to hug me, your head resting on my back, your hands caressing my chest. I stop and close my eyes, enjoying the moment. You whisper "I love you". When I open my eyes, you are not there.

As I take my morning shower, you come in singing. I peek out to watch as you remove your night shirt. You stand facing me with a smile, then you enter the shower with me. I reach up to cup your face and kiss you. You whisper "I love you", then I look, and you are not there.

As I lay in bed at night waiting for sleep, I feel you lay down beside me. I roll over to face you and offer you my arm as a pillow. You snuggle close, wrapping your arms around me. Your body feels so warm, so soft, so natural being there. Our hands caress each other's back. We each whisper "I love you". Then I open my eyes and You are not there.

In all that I do, in all that I think, you are ever present in my thoughts. Hugging, holding hands, caressing, teasing, kissing, whispering, "I love you". In all that I do, in all that I think, you will ever be present in my thoughts. Perhaps I will be alone, perhaps another will be there with me, but it will always be you, whispering, "I love you".
