Tech Tip
How can I compare tire sizes when the sizes are listed differently from brand to brand?
Three methods of listing tire sizes have evolved over time, and lucky us, ther're all still in use.
Inch designation, which is the tire width in inches, Alpha designation, which uses a letter to code the width in inches, and metric designation, which is the width of the tire in millimeters.
The handy chart below allows you to see how the different tire sizes compare to each other, so you can cross reference an "inch" sized tire with a "metric' sized tire, and stay close to the same size.
