Jacob Brent!!!! Born in New York City, Jacob Brent has been dancing since he was a child, taking lessons since the age of seven. He is 27 years old and graduated from the North Carolina School of Arts. Jake now teaches lessons at Jeffrey Ballet. He's a strong Christian and has a wonderful relationship with the Lord which is very important to him! (Isn't he the best?!) He surprisingly was first an understudy for Mistoffelees at one time but was then finally given the part a few years later. Mr. Brent played the role of the conjuring cat during the time when the company broke the record for the longest running Broadway Show. Jacob has also played in "The Starlight Express", another great musical done by Andrew Lloyd Webber. He was also known to have danced in The World Dancers Disney with Pouncival! As you have all heard, Jacob Brent was injured a while back. Well, I am glad to say that he has made a full recovery and is back to work and back on stage! He is a great sought after choreographer, performer and teacher. Go here if you would like to check out his clinics where he gives lessons! Words from Mr. Brent Himself! My parents were both very supportive of me and have been my driving force even now. I have been inspired by so many dancers I'd hate to pick just one, but I have always loved dance and stage of all kinds... as long as it's done well. CATS and Starlight Express were experiences I will really treasure my whole life... fun, challenging, learning experiences. I have been fortunate to work with the best, and to work and fit in well with them. There is truly no feeling equal to knowing that you have really mastered something to the point of performance and sharing that talent with others. Getting in front of an audience is a real rush, and doing it with performers of such great caliber is a privilage and really exhilerating. For those of you who are interested and have that desire to be in broadway hear what Jacob has to say in his great tips of how to get there! If you want to know how I did it, I'm really not sure if I'm the right person to ask... in my case there was hard work, but also some luck involved. But I did study very hard, and still do, the great dancers and composers of history and our time. Study, practice, and a good mentor is the way to start... and of course, you have to have the passion to do it. When you get to the point of wanting to join a cast like the broadway tour, the next step is to audition and get connections in the business. Apprentice, then understudy, then get a minor role, then get a major role. Talent and skill are the two factors, there is really nothing else except personality and deal-making... the harsh realities of life, but you will need a good agent. As I said, luck is not to be discounted here. "I'm happy where I am, but for me dance is a part of my life. If I never got another role again, I'd still dance. On the other hand, if I did CATS until I died onstage... you wouldn't hear me complain!" -Jacob Brent WARNING Do NOT take any information on this page. I worked very hard to get this and I don't want my rare work stolen after finally getting such facts.
