Lt Curt Baker was the Flight Surgeon assigned to VMO-2 in late 1966. He made it a point to fly as much as possible. Curt was killed in action during a routine evening perimeter sweep around the air base at Dong Ha. His UH-1E was shot down by an NVA .50 caliber weapon in the area NW of Dong Ha, nearest the DMZ. All four crewmembers were killed on impact. It was a great loss to his friends and Marines; a very popular officer.
