Crossmolina 2-0 Killala A double strike by Michael Timlin earned Crossmolina a
deserved 2-0 victory in their final league game of the season against Killala
at Abbeytown. The youngster has had only a few opportunities to shine this
year but this brace and another header that rebounded off the post will mark
him down as one to watch for next season. The game itself was a dull affair
with the long grass preventing any fluid passing movements. Crossmolina were
well worth the 3 points while Killala posed very little threat to home goalie
Michael Canavan. The opening goal arrived in the 20th minute after a surging
run from Derek Greham which he finished with a pass to Eoin Syron on the edge
of the square. Syron then whipped the ball across the face of the goal where
Timlin was hovering to tap the ball home. Timlin later headed a Paul Flaherty
cross onto the Killala upright as he obviously took a likening to Killala’s
lax defending. An unremarkable second half culminated in Timlin’s second
strike when he calmly slotted the ball under the advancing goalie after a
fine pass from Greham in the 90th minute. The win placed Crossmolina in the
middle of the final league table. . |
