Crossmolina 5-2 Lacken United

Under-manned Lacken suffered a 5-2 thrashing in Kilmurry on Sunday morning as the home side found some late season form to embellish an ordinary season. An excellent first half performance yielded 2 goals. Derek Greham nodded in Eoin Syron’s corner kick to open the scoring after 14 minutes. Steven Canavan doubled the lead ten minutes later when he ended a comical sequence on the goal line by tapping in. Lacken responded 8 minutes later when a left wing free kick was knocked down in the box and Eamon Knox swivelled to score from 8 yards out. Michael Moyles hit the crossbar in the 19th minute of the second half and Michael Timlin fired the rebound home to extend the home advantage. Four minutes later Lacken scored with a comical sequence of their own which John Lavin eventually ended with a shot. Two minutes later Moyles crossed from the right to Greham who swept the ball home for a 4-2 advantage. Padraig Whittaker sealed the victory when he poked the ball into the net from 6 yards out with six minutes remaining.
