The squad
Johnny O'Hora
Goalie whose performances last season were exceptional. Previously prone to rare error he is currently frustrating every team in the league with his great saves, sound handling and organisational skills. Why he isn't on the Mayo team is a mystery. |
John McGuinness Another who can be relied on for good performances week in week out. Withering tackles and total concentration are the main points of his game. Plays right back. |
Eoin Syron Another smallish player with a huge heart. Will run and battle all day and will then show a cool head if a chance needs taking. Midfielder who missed part of last season while finishing college and galavanting around Europe. This year work commitments have kept him from participating. |
Padraig Whittaker
A whole hearted player whose efforts in defence and midfield are crucial to the team's success. Added a scoring touch to his game last season when his numerous goals (few pretty) were integral to the teams survival effort. This season has proven less prolific for him! |
Jason Canavan Diminutive battler who plays mainly as full back. Firmly established at this stage as one of the best defenders at the club. |
Declan Keating
New defender who brings composure and energy to the side. |
Pierce Loftus
Another of the Kilmurry graduates who have joined us this season bringing some extra quality to the side. Pierce plays in defence and has contributed in front of goal as well in his debut season. |
Damien Syron
Centre back who competes fearlessly. Contributes the odd goal from corners. |
Joe Keane
The team's top organiser. All-round player with great vision and control. Has played at centre half of late but equally at home in midfield. Currently overseas with on army duty. |
Paul Flaherty
Owner of the sweetest left foot in Mayo. Lethal from set pieces and well into double figures for goals scored direct from corner kicks. Operates in midfield or defence. |
Adrian Conway
Adrian assumed managerial duties for this season so his playing minutes are somewhat limited. He is probably the finest striker to play at the club having scored many important goals in the early days. His ability to hold the ball up in midfield has been a trademark of his this season. |
Kevin McLoughlin New addition in midfield who has already contributed scoring and passing to the side. His languid style is deceptively effective. |
Adam Gordon Another new midfielder who was unfortunate to break a bone in his foot (also against Glenisland in that Tuohy Cup game) which caused him to miss the remainder of the season. |
Mark Loftus
Left winger whose energetic forays earned him rave reviews last season. His appearances were limited this season as he pursued other interests. Probably our best outfield player last season and an exceptional addition when he takes the field for the team. |
Mark Gallagher
Skillful and tricky striker. His dedication to the club is an example anyone else would do well to match. |
John Duggan
Possibly the best passer of a ball on the team. Excellent touch and tremendous levels of stamina make him a difficult opponent on either side of Crossmolina’s midfield. The founding member of the Everton Appreciation Society at the club. |
Derek Greham Top scorer for the last number of seasons.Tremendous workrate, pace and ability with both feet. Unfortunately he suffered a badly broken leg against Glenisland in the Tuohy Cup so he will miss the rest of the season. We wish him a speedy recovery. |
Michael Timlin Striker who forages well up front and can double as a right back if necessary . |
John Moyles
Defender who played with the team two seasons ago. Returns midway through this league campaign and will get an opportunity to display the form that impressed in 2001. |
Michael Granahan
After a few appearances last season he has been nearly ever-present this season in midfield or as striker. Great competitor who contributes physically in the middle. Forms half of the Everton Appreciation Society at the club. |
Brian Judge
After joining the club last season he has settled into a left back berth this season. Can double as a striker if necessary. Missed the latter half of the season due to work commitments. |
Tony Munnelly His tackling has earned him an early reputation at the club. More appearances may see a more developed player emerging during his debut season. |
Stewart Griffin Striker who has added goals and prose to the side. When not playing he is prone to reciting verses from Gerard Manley Hopkins to crude limericks. If he doesn't get a high mark in English then nobody will. |
Michael Cafferty
The youth drive continues with this mid season addition to the squad. His performances on either flank has been a positive of the season. Provides pace galore and deadly deliveries from both sides. |
Johnno Heffernan
After a brief and unfortunate spell at Ballina Town Johnno returns to Crossmolina while he rehabilitates from his broken leg. He made a scoring debut and followed up with a double against Dicey Reillys to prove he hasn't forgotten how to score. Also a free kick threat. |
Michael Moyles
Probably the most athletic player in the club. His lanky build and superb fitness makes him a dangerous striker. Occasionally takes turns in goal but has not been featuring with the team too much this season due to other commitments. |
