This is probably one of the masterpieces of the second wave of black metal. The foundations had been laid, and the masters (Darkthrone, Immortal, Burzum, Mayhem, etc.) had launched their opening salvos. But the upstarts had now arrived! Dark Funeral definitely upped the ante with this beast. Four songs of power and blasphemy. First time I heard this I was blown away. The production is superior to some full-lengths of the time. In fact, I like the production on this better than every DF release since--excepting 2001's Diabolus Interium. This was re-released in 2000 as In the Sign..., with two added bonus tracks. Either version is good. Pick it up.
