Brutally fast black metal. It is usually done with no melody or is completely atonal. Well, Myrkskog have challennged that perception. With this 3-song 1999 demo (the songs in question being "A Poignant Scenario of Death," "Death, Beauty, Lust, Ecstasy," and "A Macabre Deathfare to the Devil"), what we have is a blast of Dimmu Borgir or Borknagar-style black metal (in terms of keyboard usage and guitar riffing) but much, much faster. In fact, the drumming is very reminiscent of American death metal. I would have to say that this is one of my personal favorite "melodic" black metal albums, right up there with Dimmu Borgir, Limbonic Art, and Old Man's Child.
