After serving as Grand Master of Masons in Virginia in 2001, Brother Cole joined the Masonic Home of Virginia as Director of Development, where he continues to serve our Craft. Prior to this position, he was employed for eighteen years as an administrator at Virginia Tech, where his primary responsibility was with the fundraising foundation of the university.

Brother Cole continues to be very active in his community, serving on numerous boards and committees. He also continues to serve his church in several capacities, most recently as Lay Leader of White Memorial United Methodist Church. He remains a frequent consultant and speaker to nonprofit organizations throughout the country.

Originally raised a Master Mason in Craighill Lodge No. 160, Elliston, Virginia in 1983, he currently holds honorary membership in several Virginia lodges. He has been a member and later officer of the Scottish Rite’s Valley of Roanoke since 1991, where his many services were recognized with the Scottish Rite honors of KCCH in 1997 and 33° in 2001. His many other Masonic affiliations include Royal Arch, Commandery, National Sojourners, Shrine, Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine, Allied Masonic Degrees, Societas Rosicruciana, DeMolay (Legion of Honor), Rainbow for Girls (Grand Cross of Color) and Job’s Daughters.

As the leader of the more than 14,000 Scottish Rite Masons in Virginia, Brother Cole has stated that he desires to further strengthen the ties among all parts of the Masonic Family. He also hopes to build upon the progress of his predecessor, by continuing to assist children and their families through the Scottish Rite’s language disorder programs.
