On November 05 2004 a new camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans was formed in Grayson County. The charter members are as follows, Rodney Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Allen Anderson, Ronnie Russell, Wayne Osborne, Andy Johnson, Ricky Russell, all of Flat Ridge, Virginia and Robert Johnson of Marion, Virginia. The first meeting was held at Rodney Johnson’s house. Officers were elected and the name of the camp discussed and Marshall’s Rifles was chosen because many of the confederate soldiers from Grayson County joined in the 63rd Va. Infantry Regiment and were under the command of General Humphrey Marshall and were called Marshall’s Rifles because of their marksmanship abilities. We want to thank all of the charter members for their support and hard work to form this camp for their community.
