Jack and Jim Stancil were two of the half brothers of my grandfather, William P. Starks. Their mother was Nancy E. Whisenant who first married John P. Starks, son of Thomas and Catherine Starks. After the death of John, Nancy married Samuel Stancil. They lived in Whitfield County, Georgia.

Jack Stancil was in the merchant marine among other things. All the pictures I've seen of him show him as a very dapper man. Among the possessions of my grandfather are letters and cards from Jack postmarked in Pecan Gap, Texas.
