Aya thinks he has problems but he's just a pansy! He joined Weiss in an attempt to get his personal revenge on Reiji Takatori. So you can imagine his joy when the missions turned into a hunt for the man he most hated.
Back when Aya was younger, not as sulky, and called Ran, his parents were randomly killed. Then his younger sister, Aya-chan, was hit by a car right after they found their parents' bodies. Aya was left unconscious in the wreckage, but never forgot the face of the man who looked out the car's back window. Reiji Takatori.
So Aya's parents are dead and his little sister is in a coma. So goes Aya's life.
What else can I possibly say about the man? He works for Persia to make money to pay his sister's medical bills, and wants to kill Takatori. He ends up doing so, but then Schreient actually shows some forsight and kidnaps Aya-chan to use against Weiss. With her as their hostage, they think they can win. Unfortunately, Schwarz is now working for Esset, a creepy group of old weirdos, and THEY want Aya-chan because she doesn't look like she's aged a day past 16 since she's been in her coma, and they think they can use something from her to be young again or some shit like that. So Schwarz goes to take out Schreient and THEY end up with Aya-chan.
Aya mad. Aya smash. Aya hurl katana and insults their way. Rawr.

Aya thinks he has it SO bad! Whatever! In the end, Aya-chan wakes up! She's OK, Takatori is dead, and Aya's life is just peachy keen dandy! He can just shut up.
In the OAV "Verbrechen ~ Strafe", Aya doesn't do anything remotely interesting. Although, he's the one who knew that when Manx said "black lillies" it was code for a lie. So, really, Aya was the slick one who knew Manx didn't REALLY want him and Youji to kill Ken and Omi. So I have to give him credit there.
In the Drama Album "Dramatic Precious", Aya is the only sane member of Weiss left, it seems. In the past, he was always the brooding loner...now he has to keep Youji and Ken from going nuts, and Omi from becoming a Takatori! But even though he was faced with the old friend who taught him everything he knows about fighting, and then had to fight and kill said old friend...his life still doesn't suck that damn much. I think the other boys' lives suck a LOT more!
