Youji used to be a detective on the police force. His partner was the lovely Murase Asuka, and he had the hots for her BAD! Whilst on a mission one day, investigating a prostitution ring, Youji was injured. Asuka gave him a kiss and he told her to run for it. Unfortunately, the bimbo got about 3 feet away from him and got herself shot. Youji's cries of "ASUKA!" reverberated through the alley. All was lost! All was lost!

So what went down is Asuka played Youji pretty bad. She pretended like she was trying to remember him, but then led him into a trap. Schreient attacked, Weiss fought, and Youji was forced to kill his love, Asuka. But as she died, she grunted out, "Masafumi...I love you", as Masafumi had "saved" her, as he did the other members of Schreient. This made Youji scream. A lot. It was the last straw, then then Neu/Asuka died. Sucks to be Youji.
In the OAV "Verbrechen ~ Strafe", Youji doesn't do a whole lot. Just pals around with Aya trying to kill Ken and Omi, even though Youji is totally NOT down with that. When it seems like he's dying, he says to Ken, "I couldn't have lived like this anyway. See you soon". Youji's a good guy.
In the Drama Album "Dramatic Precious", however, Youji kinda loses his cool. When he's having sex with random ladies he starts having Asuka flashbacks and begins to strangle the woman he's sleeping with. He never kills any women, of course, but he says he's giving up dating since he doesn't want to ever accidentally kill a girl. A woman's enemy is Youji's enemy. He doesn't wanna be his own enemy.
