ANTIQUARIAN BOOKS (1800’s)

"Civil Government in the United States Considered With Some Reference to Its Origins" by John Fiske, published by Houghton, Mifflin, and Co. Not dated, but the copyright date is 1890. The 360 page hardbound book is in good+ condition. A few pages have some pencil marks, but otherwise quite clean. Burgundy cloth covers show some wear from age, but everything holding together nicely. Available for $6.

"The Art of Speech, Studies in Poetry and Prose" by L.T. Townsend, Volume I (only of a two volume set), published in 1884. The 247 page hardbound book is in very good condition, clean inside and out, with a strong binding. Available for $5.

"Recuiel de Farces Soties et Moralites de Quinzieme Siecle," edited by P.L. Jacob, published in 1859 by Adolphe Delahays in Paris, a French farce anthology. The 454 page hardbound book is in good+ condition. Black cloth covers show wear along the edges, with a hand written (very old) name label on the spine.Internals are very good, clean pages with no tears or pen marks, and a strong binding. Texts include the entire Pathelin series (featuring a rascally lawyer), as well as comedies by Andre de la Vigne and Nicole de la Chesnaye. Available for $10.

"The First Booklist of the Library of Congress," facsimile copy of the book order from London bookseller Cadell & Davies in 1800, published by the Library of Congress in 1981. The list is 8 pages, plus a forward and cover letter. Also includes the prices paid for each item. The booklet is in mint condition. Available for $5.
