Chapter 7

“Cindy, it’s me, open up.” “Hey D., what’s up?” I asked opening the door. “I met a girl yesterday and we are going out tonight. I want you to come along.” “You mean go on a blind date with one her friends?” “No, one of my friends.” “No, no way, no how, I am not going out on a date with that damn asshole. I’m sorry Howie.” “Come on Cindy, please, do it for me. Just this once.” After about 10 minutes of begging, I finally gave in. “Alright, fine, I’ll go on the stupid date.” “Thank you so much Cindy. See you tonight at 8.” “Bye D.” For the rest of the day, I just wondered around my room wondering why I accepted the date. But on the other hand, AJ was overly excited. He was going through outfit after outfit, deciding on what to wear. It was about 7:30pm and I was taking my shower. I had decided to wear my usual baggy jeans with my trademark dragon tanks and a button-up shirt over it.

“Are you ready Cindy?” called Howie from the door. “Yeah, just a sec.” I walked out into the hall and met up with Howie and AJ. Howie was wearing a nice pair of jeans and a polo shirt. AJ was more or less dressed like me. Baggy jeans, and a black tank. (A wife-beater is what some call it!) He was looking rather good if I must say so. “Wow, you look great Cindy.” Commented AJ. “Thanks.” We went down the street a little ways and met up with Howie’s friend. We ended up going out to play pool. I did my best avoid AJ, so I mostly played against Howie. “Cindy, you are out with AJ, not me, play a game with him.” “Fine. AJ wanna play a game?” A smile swept across his face, “I’d like that very much.” AJ and I played a quiet but intense game. Of course I won. “Hey, I’m hungry, why don’t we stop and eat?” suggested Howie. “Sure, sounds fine.” I said. We all went to the bar, I sat down beside Howie. “Umm Cindy, AJ is over there.” “Dammit Howie. I didn’t want to come on this damn date…” “Excuse us for a sec.” Said Howie pulling me away. “Cindy, he really does like you.” “And? I don’t like him. He is a jerk, a cute jerk, but he was so rude to me. But he did save me from the pool…” I trailed off. “Cindy, I can see it in your eyes, you have a thing for him, and you know it.” “What if I do? I have been so rude, he wouldn’t forgive me.” “Yes he will, go back and talk to him.” “Oh, alright.”
