EASTER BREAD (PASKA)



Ingredients:


7 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup sugar
2 cups milk
4 egg yolks, beaten
2 packets dry yeast
1 Tsp salt
1 Tsp vanilla


Scald the milk, allow it to become lukewarm. Mix in the yeast, let it stand for 15 minutes. Mix together the flour, butter, egg yolks, sugar, salt and vanilla. Add the milk and yeast mixture to the flour mixture and knead it very well until it is smooth and satiny. Cover and let stand until double in bulk (preferably in a warm area, such as in a slightly warmed oven). Shape into bread and place in pans (two or three, depending on size of pans). Let stand covered until approximately doubled in size again. Brush tops of bread with slightly beaten egg. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
