~*~Chapter Five~*~

~August’s point of view~

A few minutes later the ship docked at a small harbor. The beach was gorgeous. Only in the Carribean can the water be so clear. Palm trees lined the beach and past that was a boardwalk.
“Come on let’s go,” Cassie led the way off the ship.
“Hey, guys, this is Carmen. She’s going to hang out with us today,” Nick came up, holding the hand of the girl he’d been talking to.

She looked a lot like Cassie: tall, slender, and gorgeous. With dark brown eyes and her dark hair flowing past her shoulders in curls, and a smile on her face, she walked like she ruled the world. Full of confidence.
“She looks exactly like every other girl he’s dated,” Michelle whispered to me, smiling and rolling her eyes.
“Carmen was telling me that they’re going to have a huge beach party the night after tomorrow when the ship reaches Castaway Cay.”
“What’s that?” Cassie asked.
“It’s Disney’s private island,” I told her.
“Oh, cool,” Michelle told her. “Do you think Kevin will be going, Cass?”
“I don’t know. You can ask him,” she shrugged.
Michelle started asking Carmen some questions about her and introducing herself and Nick kept pace with them. Cassie moved to the other side of Brian.
“So, the beach party sounds like fun, huh?”
“Yeah, it sounds alright,” Brian responded.
“Nick’ll probably take Carmen. And maybe I can get Kevin to ask Michelle. It’ll be good if everyone has someone to go with.”
“Yeah,” Brian agreed.
She was trying to get him to ask her to the dance. Anyone could see that. Yet Brian was oblivious. ‘Why do guys never have a clue?’ I wondered. Well, he’d figure out sooner or later. And they had been friends for who knows how long and she was just as beautiful as Carmen, so she’d get him sooner or later.
What a lucky girl… not that I was jeolous or anything. I mean, how well did I know him?
“August?” Brian snapped me back into reality, waving a hand in front of my face.
“Huh?”
“Nick wanted to know if everyone wanted to stop for lunch now. Are you hungry?”
“It doesn’t matter to me. Whatever you all want to do,” I said, indifferently. We found some restaurant unique to the island.
“I love this song!” Michelle smiled, listening to the radio someone nearby was playing. “…every little thing I do, never seems enough for you…” she sang along.
“Oh, is this N’Suck?” Nick groaned.
“Shut-up, Nick. Your just jeolous that they have thousands of fans and your only fan is your imaginery friend, Phil!” Michelle retorted.
Nick looked from her to Carmen, hoping Carmen didn’t hear and sending Michelle a death look.
Michelle returned her thoughts to the song. “The dance to this is so awesome, but I don’t have the video on tape to be able to learn it.”
“It’s not that hard, you could pick it up pretty easily,” I told her.
“Do you know it?”
“Yeah, I got bored this summer and learned some of their dances one day.”
“Seriously?” she grinned. “Can you teach it to me tonight? I have the CD with me!”
“Um… sure,” I agreed.
“Great!”
“Anyway…” Nick attempted to get the topic off of N’Sync.
“That Justin Timberlake, what a hottie!” Michelle said, just in spite of him.
“What? He has the afro the size of Brazil!”
“He cut his hair an eternity ago!” Michelle informed him, taking a seat.
“I’m sorry I don’t stay up-to-date on their haircuts,” Nick said, sarcastically. “Sorry you have to listen to this crazy chic, Carmen.”
“No, I’m sorry, Nick. ‘Cuz I’m a Lance fan myself,” Carmen flashed a grin.
“Man, I’m in a teenybopper sandwich,” Nick groaned from his spot at the table between them.

“That’s so cool how they do that,” Carmen pointed to some guy writing a person’s name on a grain of rice.”
“Do you want one?” Nick offered, grabbing for his wallet.
“Oh, you don’t have to…”
“No, I want to do it, come one,” he grabbed her hand and headed over for the line.
“Wow, our group seems to be expanding quickly this week,” Michelle laughed, referring to Carmen and me. She dug through her purse and grabbed a camera. “I think we need a group picture.”
Brian smiled. “She’s always taking pictures,” he explained to me.
“Nick, Carmen, come on, I need to get a picture,” she called them over. She grabbed a stranger passing by and asked him to take it. “Just click that button,” she explained to the man.

Nick wrapped his arm around Carmen, and his other arm leaned on Michelle’s shoulder. Michelle and Cassie each had an arm around each other. Cassie’s other arm was around Brian’s neck. Brian’s arm wrapped around my waist.
“Smile,” the man said.

SNAP.
“Man! You’ve got the brightest flash in the world!” Nick complained, rubbing his eyes.
“Oh, what a baby. Thanks,” she told the man who’d taken the picture.
“Get used to that. She probably has five rolls of film to use during the cruise,” Brian warned me.
“Hey, I need something to put in my scrapbook. And twenty years from now I’ll have blackmail on all of ya,” she added cheerfully.
“Ooh, it’s a hat shop!” Cassie said, excitedly, rushing inside.
“That’s cute…” Michelle put on a blue hat that said “Angel.” Cassie pulled out a red one that said “Sexy.” Carmen’s green one said “Hottie.”
“Here ya go,” Cassie pulled my bucket hat off and gave me one that said “Princess.”
“Here Nick, I definitely want a picture of this!” Michelle gave Nick her camera.
“We’re getting really outnumbered,” Nick told Brian. “We need some more guys in this group.”
“I second that! Some hot ones for once,” Michelle teased. “Now take the picture!”
