Back to the main page M*ing Links
I'm not going to great lengths to write detailed analyses of Pern and PernM*ing when other people have already done it! So here are some other links to browse through—a lot of them have been referred to throughout the pages. Most of these are ones that I found on a Search Engine, I can't vouch for how up-to-date they'll be, and I don't keep track of their contents. If you find a link is broken, please let me know, likewise if you think a page is so out-of-date that it's useless and please send me any addresses of pages you know of that you think should be here.
I last checked through and updated these links on 20th April, 2003.
Anne McCaffrey Anne's own
webpage obviously concentrates on her books rather than PernM*s, but this
is useful if you want the final word on an issue. This page provides various
ways to contact Anne, as well a message board and chatroom for you to get in
touch with other Pern fans.
Sariel's Guide to Pern
Elrhan's Pern Site
Very much book-oriented, but there are a few things on here that are useful.
All the Weyrs List The famous one, that's a must visit for all PernM*ers. If you're a
newbie, it's where to
find all the currently running PernM*'s out there. If you're on SearchCo, use it
to check that the name you've got in mind for that dragon has not been
used. If you're a rider, get a kick out of seeing yourself in the hatching
records.
PernMU* Discussion
A messageboard for people who play on the PernM*s. Please note that this
site believes in speaking frankly and provides a place for its members to rant
about the sheer stupidity of some aspects of Pern and M*ing. The forum
Constructive Criticism is a generally safe place to get balanced answers to
questions, but remember the gloves come off in Rants, Vents, and Flames.
Sabria's
Guide to Pern Online! Another long-standing site... I'm not sure when
it was last updated, but there's plenty of information there... again there's a
lot of emphasis on dragonriding.
Tasni's Pernese Roleplaying Resources
And for everything, there's this collection of links! Tasni's gone to a lot of
effort to find relevant links to pages (based on Pern or real life) that will
aid you in the technical parts of Pernese life. And they're all clearly
categorised for easy access.
These are probably not essential for most RP, but they're fun to read for most fans, and may come in handy if you've got a specialised job on the game. For more of these, visit Tasni's site (see above). The What's on Pern page also contains links where applicable to more detailed information on a specific object.
All
The Plants of Pern Fun for cooks and diners as well as gardeners and
healers. Anybody who's RPed on Pern has probably
had a moment (or similar) when they think "Can I say peanuts? Do they exist? Do they
have another name?" (The answer's "Yes, and they're still called
peanuts.")
Dragon Colours
Because just about everybody wants a dragonrider and when applying for one, you
will be asked what colour you want. This page gives Zoey's take on all the
different colours.
Introduction to Dracogenetics
Details on the scientific make-up of dragons, if either dragonhealer or rider
wants to know a bit more about the creatures.
Rukbat al Rami - Pern's sun
Not sure how much use this is for starcrafters, but for anybody who ever wanted to see the night sky from a
Pernese point of view, go here.
Pern Cards
There are plenty of pages with Ecards for birthdays, Christmas etc, but where
would you find the perfect good luck card for a Hatching? Or the right message
to commemorate the passing of a character? Why, right here!
Twinkies Anyone
Here's something rather miscellaneous. This is, believe it or not, a real log
featuring a real person who logged onto Harper's Tale one night in 1996. As an
example of how not to behave, this is unparalleled. Many kudos to Sylke
who must have the patience of a saint.
