The History Of The Mk1 Astra
There were 110,461 Astra's made between 1980 and 1984 and only 9,281 Mark One Astra GTE's made out of that.
The Astra GTE started life in April 1983 and carried on until June 1985.The cost for a new top of the range front wheel drive performance car from Vauxhall was £6,845 in 1983 on a Y-registration plate.
The price increased £150 when the new A and B plate registration plates came out in 1984/5 to £6,995 when the GTE/GTI phenomenon was at its highest.
Even though the MK1 Astra GTE was only produced from 1983-1985 in Ellesmere Port England, Vauxhall manufactured the MK1 GTE until 1987.
Here is a list of how many MK1 Astra GTE's were manufactured in 1983-87 from the Vauxhall archives:
1983 - 3,118 Late Y and early A reg.
