Here is a picture of the rear axle mounts with the rear beam axle off the car. The original is a drum brake setup, but I have a rear beam from a Astra Mk2 GTE which has rear a disc setup and has a better stopping compared to the drums.
A picture of the front floorpan. It needed a couple of points welding but was very minor work.
Here the spare wheel carrier has been cut away and a sheet of metal has been welded in place. This is so I can have a centre exit exhaust .
A picture of the rust on the right hand side rear inner arch.
A picture of the rust at the front floorpan. Again minor welding required.
The 16v rear disc axle rubbed with all the rust/grime off ready for priming.
Here the rear inner arch was taken back to bare metal to check for the dreaded rust.
Another picture of the rear inner arch back to bare metal.
Primered left arch to keep the rust out as much as possible.
Primered right arch. As you can see, I was still finding out how much welding it needed.
