The Flower Behind A Tear

As I gaze into the mirror
I am trying hard to see
The flower behind the tear
That use to be me.
I kept the beauty hidden far
down inside so no one could view
The soul of a flower
crushed petal after petal by you
When the bloom of love
Was new to you
You gave me nourishment
Gave the bud a hue.
Now the flower is pressed
Behind a page of life
Weighted with the strangle
Of your anger and strife.
If there were but a way for
the flower to be born anew
If only tears could be turned
Inward and restore like dew.
Then maybe I could see the
Flower I once knew
Behind the tear, a life
With no fear renewed
Back
