Pottery By Hand!
is located in the beautiful historic district of Leesburg
Virginia at 5 Royal Street SE in the Odd Fellows Hall. Hannah Janney started
this business in her home. She has a teacher's heart
and wanted to share the joy of pottery with others in
her community . She moved her operation into a store
in Lincoln Virginia that she shared with her
sister-in-law who was running a successful photography
studio there. The popularity of her classes soon outgrew
the small portion of floor space she had there, so she
found temporary housing in a farm house owned by her
father.
On October 10, 1999, the one hundredth anniversary of the
Odd Fellows Hall, Hannah held the grand opening for
Pottery By Hand!. Here she has ample room to teach
classes in hand building, pot throwing and ceramic
painting. Upstairs there is studio space for serious
artists or those who covet a private space to express
their creativilty. Downstairs, Fran Newquist's
business, Tin Barn Pottery and Supplies, is conveniently
housed for customers and students.
Pottery By Hand! Is an ideal place for children, scout
troups, birthday parties or adventurous adults to
explore their creativity and learn the joy of dirty
hands and clean-hearted fun.
