Va..  He died 30 Jul 1864 on Saturday in Petersburg, Va..    Aaron Floyd Jones was killed during the Civil War at the "battle of the Crater" in Petersburg, Va.  His body was never brought home, so we can assume he was buried in a common grave with the soldiers who died with him.

  Billie Redding, granddaughter of Aaron Floyd, has a doll she said was sent to her father William by his father Aaron during the Civil War.  I find it hard to believe that in 1863 / 64 a man would send his son a doll.  Maybe a toy wagon or gun, but not a doll.  I really feel that this doll was sent to my g grandmother, Frances Rosabell by her father Aaron.  However, I do thank Billie for a copy of the doll and of letters written by Aaron's during his time in the Civil War.  We are very lucky that they survived this long.  Frances Anne Shively and Aaron Floyd Jones had the following children:

  We have found Mary's family and her sweet daughter-in-law, Aldena. Such a loving and sharing lady.  We are very fortunate to be able to talk to her.

She was married to Andrew B. Sisk (son of Gideon Sisk  and Julia A. McCann) about 1911 in Mercer Co, WVa..  Andrew B. Sisk was born in Jan 1892 in Dott, WV..  He died April 4, 1912 on Thuirsday in Arista, WVA..    Charlie Love Sigmon came from Roanoke, Va. to Wenonah, VA. to stay with her sibling and care for the children while she had a baby.  As the train pulled into the station, Andrew and some of his friends were standing around watching who got on and off.  As Charlie stepped off, Andrew whistled and said to his friends, " Boys, you just got the first look at my future wife for I'm going to marry that girl ". Andrew didn't even know her name, but true to his word, he did marry her.  Their love story is so sad, for he died before Charlie gave birth to their little girl, Mandie Jane, who died five years later and is buried beside her father in the John Riley Shrewsbury Cemetery.

  If there is any consolation to this story, it must be that Andrew had his little girl and I am sure he was very happy to have that part of Charlie.

  Andrew was killed in a mining accident.  You might want to look for the picture of Andrew and Charlie taken shortly after they were married, and the one taken in 1912 of Charlie holding Mandie as a baby at Charlie's grave.  I am sure she took her there to introduce her to her father.  Charlie Love ( Nellie ) Sigmon and Andrew B. 50.  Andy Nelson Sigmon was buried Cunningham Cemetery in Bluff Mountain, Mercer Co. West Virginia.  He died Feb.1, 1942 on Sunday in Princeton, Mercer Co. WV..  He was born June12, 1907 on Wednesday in Dott, WV..    I have spoken to a lot of people who remember my Dad, and no one has ever had an unkind word to say about him.  He was one of those rare people who was always ready to do anything to help others in a time of need.  He was a coal miner and was killed while walking to Matoaka to get a cab for Springton, VA. where we lived.  He was working in Kingston, VA.   He is buried in the Cunningham Cemetery on Bluff Mountain at Dott, VA.

  He was a wonderful Son, brother, husband , friend and father.  When my Uncle Lowel Meadows was sick and it came to my father's attention, he walked from Springton, VA. to the mountain to check on him, and finding him in critical condition, my father walked off the mountain and got a cab to take him back to get Lowel.  Lowel lived so far in the mountain that the cab couldn't get in to him, so my father carried Lowel about two miles to the road and laid him in the back seat.  He took him to our home and called the Doctor.  The Doctor told my parents that if he could have gotten to Lowel two to three days sooner, he could have saved his life, but he died the next morning.  I have to wonder why my father wasn't told sooner.

  The few memories I have of my dad I wouldn't trade for any amount of money.

  He is buried in the Cunningham/Shrewsbury/Meadows Cemetery at the foot of Bluff Mountain.

He was married to Brookie Fay Meadows (daughter of George W. Meadows  and Virgie Lee Cunningham ) 29 Mar 1928 on Thursday in Bristol, Va..  Brookie Fay Meadows was born May 12, 1912 on Sunday in Dott, WV..  She died May 30, 1990 on Wednesday in Bluefield, W.Va..  She was buried Roselawn Cemetery in Bluefield Princeton Road, Mercer Co. West Virginia.    As a young child and older, I can remember my Mother was always telling me about our family.  I can remember her taking me to the "Mountain" where all our families were buried and showing me who was buried where.  Once, when I was seven, she took me to the George Washington Shrewsbury  Cemetery and showed me where my great grandparents were buried. At the time all I wanted to do was play with all the other children. I often wish now that I had listened to more of what she had told me, but was surprised when we started our research at how much came back to me.  So, she got more into my head than I thought.  I am grateful I had a mother who was interested, but I could have known so much more if I hadn't been too busy to listen to her. She would be very proud on this book.

  Mother is buried in the Roselawn Cemetery on the Bluefield Princeton road.  Andy Nelson Sigmon and Brookie Fay Meadows had the following children:

They are two jewels.
