Tale Of The Lilly

Chapter Two

I walked into the den, only to see they were all awake and waiting for me.

"Where have you been?" Leo asked me as soon as I got into the door.

"For a walk," I answered quickly to avoid suspicion.

"I don't believe you," he said crossing his arms across his chest.

"Well, you don't believe anyone. So, I really don't care if you believe me," I was shocked at my own words. I'm starting to sound like Raph, and that can't be good.

Mikey stood up and walked me out of the den, "Don, what's wrong? You're usually never out late and you're never sarcastic."

"Well, things change," I tried to hide my secret but he saw right through me. "I met Dr. Rooks last night."

"Are you nuts! Don, he could have done anything!"

"Like what?"

"Ever hear of experimentation?" he was right.

"That's not the only thing that happened."

"What else?"

"Half way through the night the doctor's assistant came, and Dr. Rooks left me with her for the rest of the night."

"What?!" I walked away before he could finish.

I stood there in the rain waiting by the door for her to arrive. I had arrived at 5:30. I suppose that was a little early, but I didn't really care. I just wanted to get into that lab, and talk to Lily. There she came running down the alley to the door. She smiled at me, like she expected me there. She opened the door and let me in. I guess I was out in the rain too long, because I was completely soaked, and dripping everywhere.

"So how long have you been waiting?" she asked while taking my trench coat and throwing me a towel.

"About an hour."

"Guess you really love science," she giggled.

"Yeah," I blushed.

"So, um. Do you need any help tonight?" I asked shyly.

"As a matter of fact, I do. The doctor has me cleaning this place from top to bottom. So, how good are you with a broom?"

Before I could say anything, she placed a broom in my hands. I gave her a look and she gave one back.

"It won't kill you to sweep the floors while I dust," she said. I smiled and got to work. In about to hours, and two breaks to chat later we were done.

"Wow. This would have taken me forever to clean, if I were alone."

"So, are you glad I was here?" I asked trying to find out how she feels about me.

She looked at me stunned for a second then smiled. She knew what I meant. She wrapped her arms around me and kissed me.

After she kissed me, she pulled away, and asked, "Does that answer your question?"

"Definately."

Mental note, there is a god!

The next few weeks were the same. We got closer and closer, and my family was none the wiser. Except Mikey, I told him everything. He still had his doubts about my relationship with Lily, but I reminded him time and time again that it would be okay.

Then one night there was a note posted on the lab's door.

Don-
Come to the roof, it's important.
-Lily

"What does she want on the roof?" I wondered.

I climbed the fire escape and onto the roof. On the roof was a round glass greenhouse. It was hard to see through the glass, but I could make out Lily and candled. Candles? Why candles?

I walked to the door and opened it. As soon as the door was open, I was overcome with the smell of garden flowers. I walked inside only to find Lily dressed in a gorgeous white dress.

"Oh, I didn't see you. Well, this was going to be a surprise, but it's okay." She grabbed my hand gently and led me to a couch in the back of the greenhouse. She motioned for me to sit. She picked up a blanket and unfolded it. She sat next to me, and with my help, we covered ourselves with the blanket.

She laid her head on my shoulder and whispered, "Don, I've never met anyone like you. All the other guys I've dated were either too obsessed with themselves or too conceited, but not you. You're different. You actually listen to me, and that's why I brought you up here. Don, I love you, and tonight I want to be with you."

"You mean," I started to say.

"Yes. I love you and I want to spend the night with you," she kissed me, passionately.

Usually I would have just left after she kissed me, but this time I knew it was okay. I have never experienced such passion, love, and lust. This was the night we gave ourselves to each other. This was the night that began the rest of our lives together. This night was ours and ours alone.

The morning came early and unexpected. Lily rose from the couch beside me to try and find her clothes. She found them and put them on. I couldn't stop staring at her. She was so beautiful. She finally caught me staring.

"What are you looking at?" she asked playfully.

I walked over to her and placed my arms around her, "My future."

She smiled, and placed her arms around me. We held each other for several minutes before I spoke up.

"You better go home and rest. I'll see you tonight at six."

"All right," she kissed me. "Goodbye, love."

She walked out of the greenhouse and down the fire escape. I folded the blanket and finally left.
