Service project – Katherine
Songs – Stephanie
Culture – Gina and Alex
Swaps – Corianne
Skit –Amy
WAGGS/Cabana - Lucy
I hope I have these right, as I seem to have misplaced the sheet I wrote on at the meeting. At this meeting I expect Swaps & Skit to be prepared with some ideas that we can work through. In addition we can start to learn the songs. Culture needs to be ready with sights of Mexico City so we can book our tours early. If girls have any questions give Mrs. Davis a call.
Girls should come prepared to discuss their assignments. A separate email to committee members gives details.
The Court of Awards will be Monday, April 2 for the whole troop. We will also take time to complete the water safety, which will complete the Pole. Paddle and Role IP for all those who went kayaking last June.
Don’t forget to submit any paperwork for IPs or such (leadership, Challenge, etc.) by February 28 for this Court of Awards. Even if you go to the Challenge Workshop and have finished steps 4 & 5 you must turn in the form from your notebook.
New Teen Uniforms
The new uniforms will be out this spring and it is oatmeal (khaki) cargo pants and vest with a blue shirt. The blue vest we have cannot be used with the new uniform in an official capacity. In other wards if we are asked to wear our uniform for a local ceremony where the vest is required then we would have to wear our old uniform, unless you chose to get the entire (with vest) new uniform. However for those who want to get the uniform for travel, like travel to Cabana where we have to wear our uniform (not vest) on the plane that is acceptable. However for Cabana we will also have to bring the old uniform but I know all the travelers already have it.
The 4 girls working on fundraising with this event are Lucy, Amy, Katherine and Corianne. Tracy asked to join for Leadership hours. If you need the three leadership hours let Mrs. Irvin know as the committee may need extra hands the day of the event. Right now the event will be either April 21 or 28.
For those that couldn’t make the one in December at Crowell there is another opportunity on March 10 from 1 – 2:15 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Herndon. For this one you need to register online at the GSCNC.website (www.GSCNC.org) (click on training reservations). The course number is 650-00-0619. As a reminder this workshop will get you thinking about your project whether you have one in mind or have no idea what you want to do. Don’t wait, as seats are limited.
You all received the message from Mrs. Sullivan to call and schedule and appointment for cookie pick-up not earlier than the evening of February 23. Pick them up early as they take up a lot of space in the Sullivan’s dining room. Also your customers will want them
Silver Trefoil
You can find this in Kaleidoscope but I thought I would bring this to everyone’s attention again as the forms in the notebook are wrong. The requirement for Government hours is 25 total hours of which 15 MUST be Federal. They can all be Federal or 10 can be state or local. The forms make it look like you must do 15 Federal and 10 State/Local.
Self Defense IP
Remember the Police permission forms can be can be returned to Mrs. Davis by February 23 and she will bring them). or turned in at the event. THERE WILL NOT BE EXTRA FORMS AT THE EVENT. Girls must arrive BEFORE 9 at Vienna Presbyterian Church. Refer to permission slip for what girls must bring.
Senior Challenge This Saturday
Be there not later than 8:15, wearing comfortable clothes and bring a self-addressed stamped envelope.
I am only ordering patches for Amy and Lauren since no one else responded to my request for names in the last newsletter.
The spring TTGs (Through the Grapevines) are here. There is a lot of interesting stuff:
· Some write-ups on completed Gold Awards, which are great for getting ides of your own
· There is a wonderful patch program about the two women who are trekking across Antarctica (go to http://jfg.girlscouts.org/Go/Travel/Antarctica/BAExpedition.htm for details)
· A Career fair which Gina and Kristin could use for their Career Pin (deadline for registering is March 28 so let Mrs. Davis know if you are interested. It is $10.00 on April 12)
· And much more
Unfortunately there is a major mistake in the Silver Award section where they list “Lorianne Tatariw” as having completed her project.
I will have the TTGs on Saturday or you can stop by Mrs. Davis and pick your copy up.
