Kristen is joining Girl Scouts for the first time so please help her understand how everything is done.
Amy, Tracy, Alex, Katherine, Lucy and Corianne have finished the IP. Gina and Lauren are only a service project away from completing it. Stephanie just needs the service project and one requirement of her choice.
We will have a Court of Awards in March so I need to know what you earned. I have the following (not counting the Creative Cooking IP):
Alex: Pets IP & Leadership Pin
Tracy: On a High Note IP & From Stress To Success IP
Mallary: Sailing Sports Awareness with second level backing
If anything is missing from this list submit the paperwork to Mrs. Davis by February 28.
Also I hope everyone is recording all their completion dates (Career Fair, Leadership Pin, etc) and IPs in their gold notebooks. Mrs. Davis is not keeping track and this data is required for the Gold Award paperwork, which goes to GSCNC.
Cookies
Rumor has it that cookies will be in around the middle of February. Girls can still take orders and Mrs. Sullivan has extra order forms for anyone who wants one.
Mrs. Tatge has volunteered to coordinate cookie booths. We will get out booth assignment on February 13 so start praying for nice weather.
Brownie
Try-it Fundraiser
Mrs. Irvin has put out an email to those girls (Amy, Katherine, Lucy, Lauren and Corianne) who expressed an interest in working on this project. The first meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, February 12 (normal meeting time and place). If anyone else is interested they MUST come to this meeting. Make sure you review the email so you are prepared to vote on the Try-it that will be offered. For the possible event dates Mrs. Irvin accidentally looked at a 2000 calendar so just slip them a day (it is April 20-22 vice 21-23).
Self
Defense IP
I have 9 girls confirmed: Stephanie, Kristen, Amy, Alex, Katherine, Lucy, Corianne, Lauren and Mallary. Each girl must complete a separate permission slip from the Vienna Police before they can participate in the workshop. The permission slips will be handed out at the Monday, February 5 meeting or mailed to anyone who is not at the meeting. These can be returned to Mrs. Davis by February 23 or turned in at the event. THERE WILL NOT BE EXTRA FORMS AT THE EVENT. Girls must arrive BEFORE 9 at Vienna Presbyterian Church. Refer to permission slip for what girls must bring.
I have confirmed attendance at the noon to 2 mother’s
session for Mimi, Alynn and Peggy
Senior Challenge
I have all 11 girls confirmed for this event. As a reminder girls are to bring a self-addressed, stamped envelope and dress in comfortable clothes, as they may be sitting on the floor at times. Also please make sure you review items 4 & 5 of the Challenge (in the Senior Handbook) as everyone has to do these steps on their own, but not necessarily before the event. Everyone must turn in the appropriate sheet in the notebook when all requirements are completed.
Chocolate
Festival
I sent out an email on Thursday with ways to earn 2 requirements for either the Law and Order IP or the Active Citizen IP. This Festival is in the City of Fairfax on February 3.
TOGA is looking at participating in this program the last Saturday in April. Father/daughter teams would be nice. More to come after the February TOGA meeting so stay tuned.
TOGA will be going June 9. Any troop members interest, and this includes drivers should let Mrs. Davis know by February 15. There will be more details after the February TOGA meeting.
If you worked on the SU 50-8 Thinking Day let Mrs. Davis know by February 12 so she can order your patch. I know several girls indicated an interest but not sure who actually got a job.
