Next Meeting Monday, February 4
This will be a meeting to discuss many things and
possibly have time for an activity.
Ø
For those doing (or thinking of doing) a presentation for
“Let’s Go Expo” on March 2 should bring there display or be able to tell
us what they plan. For those that are still in the planning stage they can use
the troop to get ideas or help. (The article on Let’s Go Expo is repeated
below.)
Ø
Go over many activities available for the spring so the troop can
register for activities that will appeal to the majority of the troop members.
Some that are available, but we are not limited to:
o
Caving (Digging Thru the Past IP)
o
Golf Lessons
o
Core Camp at Coles Trip (some activities are boating or a nature
photography workshop)
o
Kayaking
o
Adopt a Refuge in conjunction with the Fairfax Audubon Society and the US
Fish and Wildlife Service (dates in March, April or May)
Summer
Camps
Camp catalogs as well as some camp aide
applications are being distributed. If you don’t come on January 14 to Mrs.
Irvin’s then they will be mailed to you. Other camp aide applications are
available but there were insufficient quantities to distribute to everyone.
Ø

26) – contact Mrs. Irish at 703 764-1532 or campcrossroads@hotmail.com

are due not later than February 15.
Ø

Tea
at the Four Seasons
We have a reservation
for 7 (Mallary, Tatariw’s, Sullivan’s and Davis’) on Monday, January 21 at
2 P.M. The group will leave Waples Mill at 1:15.
Let’s Go Expo
Vienna
Presbyterian Church, Saturday, March 2, 1 - 4pm. No cost. Have fun, give
service, and earn the Travel IP. Vendors will be on hand to
display/explain the latest in suitcase and backpack travel. Corporate sponsors
will display navigation and safety wares. "Exercises" will be
structured around packing efficiently and appropriately (I smell a
"survivor" game here!) Troop/Girl/Adult leader displays and talks are
planned for the World Centers (Cabana-Katherine), Savannah (Corianne?), WDW,
NYC, cruise, etc. And much more. Let's Go Expo service. If you make one of
the 20 minute presentations, it will count as service. Needs to be in
"Show and Tell" format. No problem having repeat presentations.
Cookies 2002
Cookie sales started
January 4 and initial orders are due to
Mrs. Sullivan by January 21.
Cookie Booths
We
need a Cookie Booth coordinator or there will be no Cookie Booths this year.
Teen scouts will again be able to have times at the Vale School House. This will
be the last year we will have to go to Sully if we choose to go there this year.
Cooke booth sign-ups are Tuesday February 19 at 7 PM. Call Mrs. Davis today and
volunteer. A girl can coordinate booth sales for leadership or service hours
however her parent has to accept the responsibility for the money collected.
Teen Labor Day – March 23
Amy, Alex, Corianne,
and Mallary expressed interest. At the February meeting we will see if there is
still interest as we need to register immediately. Look at your calendars and
the October TTG.
Thinking Day
SU
56-1 is having their Thinking Day February 22 from 6 – 9:30 pm. Senior Troop
40 is hosting the event so there is no need for assistance at the event. The
event will feature Thinking Day Bingo and troops will be bringing international
basket which will be used as prizes. We will discuss this at our February 3
meeting.
Life
Skill Workshop
The session is full so
it has been removed from the calendar.
