Newsletter written Friday March 11th, 2001
This will be the next to the last full group meeting (the last one is June 4). This meeting we need to concentrate on the Service Project and the skit. The group staying at the Tatariw’s tonight will preview a song, which we might do for our skit. Otherwise Amy has come up with an alternative idea which involves the song Carry Me Back to Old Virginia. We may have a third meeting after school is out to practice the skit but some have already said they can’t make any meetings then. For Stephanie, if you have a CD player Mrs. Davis has a CD of BOTH songs. That should help you. Anyone who would like to make a copy can bring a cassette tape.
The
June 4 meeting we will concentrate on customs, packing, money, phrases we can
may need, etc. THIS is a very important
meeting and parents are welcome to attend. The last payment is also due
at this meeting and I would welcome any paperwork you have completed.
Deadline for submitting paperwork to
receive awards at this meeting is June 4.
Everyone who needed to
complete the Service Project for the IP completed it at the last meeting. You
will be awarded the IP at the end of the year meeting.

Early
Bird Registration
Mrs. Davis mailed or delivered registration forms to everyone. She would like them back as soon as possible but not later than June 4. If you are undecided then hold your forms over the summer and bring them to the first meeting in September. Mrs. Davis will collect the troop dues and service unit dues in September. If you know you will not be returning just let Mrs. Davis know as soon as possible.
Sunday’s and Saturday’s from June 17 – August 11 girls are needed to help campers check-in for transportation to camps. Sunday responsibilities include collecting paperwork, medication and any monies due, helping to load items onto buses, and handing out papers. Saturday responsibilities include checking the girls as they come off the buses and pulling luggage out of the cargo area. Training is provided and there is no minimum number of days you have to work. If you are interested or want more information contact Laura Schweizer at 410 799-3627 or email lschwe9423@aol.com.
New TTGs are here and available at the next meeting you attend or you can stop by Mrs. Davis’ house to get one. There are many good articles and write ups for Gold Awards. But there is also an opportunity for Federal Government hours this summer (page 35).
All of you should have received a letter in the mail about this partnership program that is being offered for Senior Scouts. The girls picked will be put in touch with business women for networking and workshops (there is one on investments). If you are interested email the following address dpethtel@gscnc.org and say you are interested. This sounds like a GREAT opportunity.
