Newsletter written Friday March 25th, 2001
This
will be the last full group meeting and parents are welcome. We
can’t reschedule so IF YOU CANNOT MAKE THE MEETING HAVE A PARENT
ATTEND. This meeting we will concentrate on customs, packing, money, phrases we
can use etc. THIS is a very important
meeting. Also the last payment is also due at this meeting and Mrs. Davis
would welcome any paperwork you have completed.
Remember to bring you skit costume for approval.
So far I haven’t heard from anyone volunteering to “host” this event. I would hate to have to cancel due to lack of interest. The school is not available. This meeting will be a good time for girls, parents and Mrs. Davis to go over work done this year and determine what is still needed for the Gold prerequisites. That way you can take advantage of any summer opportunities that may come your way. For anyone who has finished these requirements Mrs. Davis will gladly discuss projects. As your advisor she will have to approve the paperwork before it goes to council.
This will also be a good time to discuss plans for next year. This is the first year in a long time when we don’t have some “agendas” already planned.
Deadline for submitting paperwork to receive awards at this meeting is June 4. You can mail or fax inputs if you will not be at the June 4 meeting.
For those who went to
Potomac Woods on April 22 you have not completed the IP until the box is stained
and donated to the Habitat for Humanity. I know Mrs. Tatariw gave you the IP
confident that you would finish this service project. Mrs. Tatariw will be
contacting you about this separately.
Saturday
June 9 1 am – 2 pm, 2 – 6
pm, 6 – 10 pm
Sunday
June 10 10 am – 2 pm, 2 –
6 pm
These hours count for the Challenge, Section 5, silver Trefoil (local government) or leadership hours. You will be making friendship sticks with girls while telling them about girl scouts.
Early
Bird Registration: Reminder
Mrs. Davis mailed or delivered registration forms to everyone. She would like them back as soon as possible but not later than June 4. If you are undecided then hold your forms over the summer and bring them to the first meeting in September. Mrs. Davis will collect the troop dues and service unit dues in September. If you know you will not be returning just let Mrs. Davis know as soon as possible.
All those girls who learned
to hammer and pound and build stuff out at Potomac Woods or just like to work
with wood, you can practice these skills at Camp Coles Trip the next few
weekends. Karen Brown (at GSCNC) is looking for girls and families who want to
help build kiosks for the Occoquan Bay Wildlife Refuge. Call Karen
202 237-1670 ext. 210.
I
still have TTGs for Bentley, Tatge, Holman, Debner and Fries.
There is a lot of valuable information in this so don’t forget to pick
them up. If you are in the Oakton area call Mrs. Davis and she will put your
copy in her Washington Post box so you can pick it up during the day at your
convenience.
